Medsender surpasses 100 specialty practices on ModMed(R) EMA.

Medsender surpasses 100 specialty practices on ModMed(R) EMA. Oct 14, 2026, 12:16 ET Specialty practices are adopting dedicated software to track every referred patient from incoming fax to scheduled appointment. NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Medsender, the fax and referral management platform for specialty medical practices, today announced that more than 100 practices running ModMed(R) EMA now use Medsender to manage incoming referrals, 16 months after the company launched its EMA integration. Every day, specialty practices lose referred patients they never knew they had. Faxes arrive unsorted. Referrals pile up. Staff spend hours processing documents by hand while referred patients slip through the cracks and book elsewhere. Medsender was built to fix that. Specialists receive more than 100 million referral requests every year in the United States, yet only half of those referrals are ever completed. For specialty practices where referred patients make up a significant share of new patient volume, that gap hits the bottom line. Mismanaged referrals can cost practices up to 10% of their revenue, and most practices can't measure their losses until they have a system that shows them. Medsender integrates directly with ModMed EMA to automate the complete referral workflow. Medsender's AI reads every incoming fax, identifies referrals, labels and categorizes each document, and routes it to the right person before anyone on the team touches it. Its AI agent can process referrals autonomously. Referral coordinators can work from a single dashboard that tracks every referred patient from fax to scheduled appointment, with everything synced directly to ModMed EMA. "Specialty practices are running sophisticated clinical operations, but most of them are still processing referrals manually. Spreadsheets, sticky notes, stacks of unsorted faxes. Every referral that is not acted on quickly is a patient another provider trusted you with, and that patient ends up scheduling elsewhere. Reaching more than 100 ModMed customers in 16 months tells us the market has been waiting for a dedicated solution. We are just getting started," said Zain Qayyum, founder and co-CEO of Medsender. For independent practices where growth outpaces headcount, Medsender closes the gap without requiring new hires. Front-office staff stop sorting faxes by hand and start working from a live, organized referral queue. Referral coordinators gain full visibility across every location, so referrals aren't overlooked, and patients aren't left unscheduled because no one had time to follow up. The result is faster referral processing, higher conversion rates, and a front office that can finally keep up with the volume the practice has worked hard to build. The impact is measurable at practices already running Medsender alongside ModMed EMA. Anne Arundel Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, one of the largest plastic surgery and dermatology practices in the country, with more than 110 locations and 325 providers, is just one of them. "Medsender created visibility into a significant referral flow that had been getting lost in manual processes and armed our teams with easy-to-use tools to quickly convert those referrals into appointments. One region increased its referral conversion rate from 20% to 62%, adding hundreds of new appointments per week," said Brittany Dimitri, director of operations support, Anne Arundel Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. Practices using Medsender report up to 85% faster referral processing and two to three times more referred patients converting to scheduled appointments, without new hires. Practices can estimate what unscheduled referrals cost with Medsender's free Referral Leakage Calculator at https://medsender.com/referral-leakage-calculator. Medsender's ModMed EMA integration is available to dermatology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, and ENT practices. Practices can book a 30-minute demo at medsender.com. About Medsender Medsender helps medical practices grow without adding staff. It's one integrated system that automatically processes every incoming fax, turns referrals into booked appointments through Agentic Referral Management, handles inbound patient calls, and helps practices recapture lost patients. Practices get full visibility from the first fax through to the scheduled appointment, with everything synced to their EHR. Medsender is HIPAA-compliant, SOC 2 Type II compliant, and integrates directly with ModMed EMA, athenaOne, NextGen, AdvancedMD, EZDERM, Tebra, and dozens of other EHR platforms. More than 1,000 clinics trust Medsender to manage their front-office workflows. Learn more at medsender.com. SOURCE Medsender

Medsender launches AI referral tool that lifted booked appointments from 10% to 48%

Medsender has launched Agentic Referral Management, software that reads incoming referrals in under 30 seconds and contacts patients within minutes by text, email, and phone if needed. Practices pay only for appointments that get booked. At the first Anne Arundel Dermatology location to go live, the share of referrals that became booked appointments rose from 10% to 48% in the first month, with no added staff. Medsender says delays in manual processing cause many referrals to never reach the schedule. The software extracts patient details, sends booking links, and posts booked appointments to the electronic health record (EHR) without manual entry. Only exceptions, such as patients who do not respond, reach staff. It works with any EHR, and implementation takes two to four weeks. The product is available now across specialties.

Medsender ranks No. 621 on 2026 Inc. 5000 as healthcare AI adoption grows.

Medsender ranks No. 621 on 2026 Inc. 5000 as healthcare AI adoption grows. August 19, 2026 Medsender has been named to the 2026 Inc. 5000, ranking No. 621 among America's fastest-growing private companies as the New York-based healthcare technology company expands its AI automation platform for independent medical practices. The recognition marks Medsender's second consecutive appearance on the Inc. 5000 following its debut in 2025. Founded in 2015, the company now serves more than 1,000 medical practices across all 50 states and integrates with more than 20 major electronic health record systems. Medsender is focused on a segment of healthcare operations that has remained heavily dependent on manual administrative work. Its platform uses AI agents to automate front-office functions including fax processing, referral management, inbound calls and outreach to patients who have stopped engaging with a practice. The company's growth reflects increasing demand among independent practices for technology that can reduce administrative workloads without requiring additional staffing. Unlike larger health systems, smaller provider organizations often have fewer resources to absorb rising labor and administrative costs, creating a market for automation that can operate within existing clinical workflows. "Independent practices are buried in manual work before a patient ever walks through the door: reading faxes, processing referrals, answering calls, and following up," said Salman Haque, co-CEO of Medsender. "We are building Medsender so that work happens reliably in the background, freeing staff to focus on patients and the exceptions that require human judgment." Medsender's approach centers on consolidating functions that practices might otherwise manage through separate software products or manual processes. Its AI agents can move a referral from initial receipt through scheduling, while incoming faxes can be read, indexed and routed automatically. The platform also handles inbound calls around the clock and supports patient reactivation through automated outreach and self-scheduling. The company said its recent expansion has been driven by a broader footprint across EHR systems, improvements to its referral management capabilities and expansion into patient reactivation. That strategy places Medsender within a growing category of healthcare AI companies attempting to automate operational workflows rather than simply provide standalone productivity tools. For independent practices, the commercial case for such systems is closely tied to whether automation can reduce repetitive administrative work while fitting into the technology already used to manage patient care. EHR integration is particularly important to that positioning. Healthcare providers frequently operate across established clinical and administrative systems, meaning new automation products often need to work with existing infrastructure rather than require practices to replace it. Medsender's integrations with more than 20 EHR systems broaden the number of practices capable of incorporating its platform into current workflows. The company's national reach also suggests that its model is moving beyond early adoption. Serving more than 1,000 practices in every state gives Medsender a larger operating base as it seeks to automate a wider range of front-office tasks. "A second year on the Inc. 5000 tells us our approach works at scale," said Zain Qayyum, co-founder and co-CEO of Medsender. "Growth like this only happens when practices keep seeing results." The Inc. 5000 ranks privately held U.S. companies based on revenue growth and is published annually by Inc. The 2026 ranking gives Medsender another benchmark for its expansion as healthcare organizations increasingly evaluate AI for administrative applications alongside clinical use cases. For Medsender, the opportunity is centered on independent practices that face many of the same administrative pressures as larger healthcare organizations but have less ability to address those pressures through additional hiring. Automating referrals, communications and patient outreach can potentially shift staff time toward work requiring direct interaction or human judgment. That distinction is becoming increasingly important as healthcare AI moves deeper into day-to-day operations. Rather than positioning AI solely as a replacement for individual tasks, Medsender is building around coordinated workflows in which software handles routine processes and employees intervene when exceptions arise. Its No. 621 ranking on the 2026 Inc. 5000 provides another indication of the demand developing around that model. As healthcare providers look for ways to control administrative costs and manage staffing constraints, Medsender is positioning front-office automation as infrastructure for the independent practice rather than another isolated software tool.

Medsender brings AI fax automation to athenaOne, cuts manual processing by 80%

Medsender, a fax and referral management software company, has launched an integration with athenaOne, athenahealth's EHR platform, to automate referral processing for specialty medical practices. The integration addresses a significant operational gap, as only half of all referral requests are completed and 52% of faxes require manual processing. Medsender's AI automatically reads, categorises and routes incoming faxes whilst separating referrals into a dedicated coordinator workflow that syncs directly with athenaOne. Practices using the software report up to 80% reduction in manual front-office processing, 85% faster referral processing, and two to three times more referred patients converted to scheduled appointments. The integration is now available to practices across the athenaOne network, one of the largest ambulatory EHR networks in the United States.
