Is this the ultimate golf watch? New Garmin Approach S72.

Is this the ultimate golf watch? New Garmin Approach S72. By Golfshake Editor Published Tue 06 Oct 2026 Updated Tue 06 Oct 2026 Garmin has unveiled its new flagship Approach S72 golf smartwatch, introducing biometric data, on-wrist swing metrics, green-reading technology and a host of new features for golfers. Garmin has expanded its range of golf wearables with the launch of the new Approach S72, a premium golf smartwatch that introduces biometric data, on-wrist swing metrics and enhanced green-reading features alongside Garmin's established on-course technology. Available in 43mm and 47mm sizes, the Approach S72 features a bright AMOLED display together with a lightweight titanium bezel, sapphire lens and new ComfortFit fabric band. Among the most notable additions is the ability for golfers to access biometric information during and after their rounds. This includes real-time heart-rate data, allowing players to review how their heart rate changed before and after shots and identify potential trends across a completed round. Garmin has also introduced on-wrist swing metrics to the Approach S72. Golfers can access data including hand speed, backswing length and wrist rotation, providing additional information for those looking to understand changes in their swing. Green reading has also been added to the watch. Golfers with an active Garmin Golf Membership can use green contour data to see the direction of break and average slope percentage, helping them identify potential aim points when putting. "We're excited to introduce the next generation of golf technology with Approach S72 and help golfers better understand their whole game. From biometric data and swing metrics to advanced golf features and everyday smartwatch tools, Approach S72 gives avid golfers the insights they need to take their game to the next level. It's everything players would want in a golf watch and an everyday smartwatch." - Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing New golf features on the Garmin Approach S72. Golf biometric data: Following a completed round, golfers can review trends to see how changes in heart rate may have related to their scoring.[1] Swing metrics: The watch provides a range of on-wrist swing measurements, including hand speed, backswing length and wrist rotation. Green reading: Using green contour data, the green-reading feature provides additional information to help golfers determine their intended putting line.[2] Driving range activity: Golfers can track swing metrics and tendencies during practice sessions, while driving range activities can also be logged within the Garmin Connect app and contribute towards fitness goals. Putting analytics: Following a round, golfers can access information through the Garmin Golf app covering areas including speed bias, direction bias and make rate.[2] Aerial imagery: Real imagery of the hole can be viewed on the watch to provide additional course information when considering lay-up positions, potential misses and other strategic decisions.[2] Designed for golf and everyday wear. Away from its new golf functionality, Garmin has also updated the design and general smartwatch capabilities of the Approach S72. The watch features a lightweight titanium bezel, sapphire lens and ComfortFit fabric strap, with Garmin aiming to make the device suitable for wearing both during a round and throughout the day. For the first time on a Garmin golf smartwatch, the Approach S72 includes a speaker and microphone. When paired with a compatible smartphone, this allows users to make and receive calls from the watch, while voice commands can also be used for basic tasks. A built-in flashlight provides variable intensities of white light alongside a red-light setting. Battery life on the larger model is rated at up to 20 hours when playing golf and up to 16 days in smartwatch mode with GPS turned off. Health and fitness features. As well as its golf-specific technology, the Approach S72 includes Garmin's wider range of health and fitness features. These include wrist-based heart-rate monitoring, stress tracking, Body Battery energy monitoring and advanced sleep monitoring.[1] A selection of preloaded activity profiles is also included for golfers who want to incorporate strength, mobility and other forms of exercise into their training. Garmin Approach S72 price and availability. The Garmin Approach S72 is available now, with suggested retail prices starting from £699.99 in the UK and €799.99 in Ireland. The watch is available in both 43mm and 47mm sizes. [1] This is not a medical device and is not intended for use in the diagnosis or monitoring of any medical condition. 10 best indoor bike trainers for Zwift (october 2026) ultimate guide.

10 best indoor bike trainers for Zwift (october 2026) ultimate guide. Riding indoors only works if the trainer holds the wattage Zwift asks for and reports power back fast enough to feel real. That single requirement is what separates the best indoor bike trainers for Zwift from the pile of rollers and resistance dials that technically connect but leave you pedalling into nothing. ThirstyBear Brewing Co. went through the spec sheets and the owner review histories for ten trainers spanning magnetic wheel-on units, fluid trainers, roller platforms and full direct-drive turbos, then sorted them against what Zwift actually needs: controllable resistance, a stable data feed, power measurement you can trust for intervals, and axle hardware that fits the bike you already own. Specs in this guide are manufacturer-published figures, and the owner verdicts come from the review record on each listing rather than from its own test rides. Short version: the Garmin TacX Neo 2T takes the top spot because it pairs the highest owner rating in the group with the largest review count and a magnetic drive that goes quiet enough for a flat. The Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 bundle is the pick if virtual shifting inside Zwift matters more than silence. Riders on a tight budget get the most from the ThinkRider XXPRO, which claims plus or minus 1% power accuracy and generates its own electricity so it can run away from a wall socket. If you want the wider picture on bike-based indoor riding before you commit to hardware, its indoor bike trainer roundup and bike trainer guide cover the mechanical side in more detail than a Zwift-filtered list can. The best dash cam deals ahead of fall's Prime Big Deal Days.

The best dash cam deals ahead of fall's Prime Big Deal Days. Matt Crisara Fri, October 2, 2026 at 5:00 AM PDT "Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." This year's fall Prime Big Deal Days are almost here, and that means Incite D is tracking down big savings so you don't have to. While the official event kicks off next week on October 6, Incite D has sifted through the depths of Amazon to find deals on its favorite automotive products that are live right now. First and foremost, Incite D is taking a look at the biggest deals on the top dash cams Incite D has tested from Garmin, Cobra, and more. Incite D should mention that Prime Big Deal Days (PBDD) include sales on just about everything. You'll be able to save on beauty products, toys, seasonal items, and even appliances. That's all well and good, but you're here reading MotorTrend, so here are the best early PBDD savings Incite D could find on dash cams. Disclaimer alert: Pricing can shift without warning, because of course it does, and you'll need to be an Amazon Prime member to get in on the deals. If you haven't joined Prime yet, you can join by clicking here. Garmin X310 dash cam. If you happened to spot its dash cam test from earlier in the year, you know Garmin's X310 earned its Best Overall accolade. Priced the same as the Garmin Live cam, it presents a very different feature set, prioritizing performance over connectivity. In the daylight, it has the fidelity to reach 65 feet to capture license plates. Performance is fantastic, but it's important to note it's also a well-designed product with a 2.41-inch touchscreen on the back to interact with. If that's too difficult, there's also an available Garmin app that can control the camera's functions. The X310 is currently selling for 8 percent off list price at $370. Rove R2-4K dual pro dash cam. Rove's R2 performed well enough to earn its Best Night Performance accolade. And there's a very good reason for that: Under the hood, it uses Sony's STARVIS 2 image sensor, tailor-made to see in the dark. Not perfect, of course, but it was one of the best contenders Incite D tested, able to snipe license plates from 30 feet out - in the dark. The R2 is currently selling for 29 percent off list price at $249.99. Nextbase 622GW dash cam. Sure, the Nextbase wasn't the best dash cam in its test. In fact, it wasn't even good enough to earn an accolade. And yet, that doesn't make it an inherently bad product. In its testing, it could still reach out to 55 feet in the daylight and record crisp 4K 30-fps footage. The real challenges Incite D had with the 622GW involved the user interface and marginally slower setup times. The 622 GW is currently on sale for 38 percent below its list price at $249.99. Cobra SC220C dash cam. Cobra made a name for itself decades ago as a pre-eminent designer and builder of radar detectors. Incite D only recently found out it's also pretty good at manufacturing dash cams. Incite D found the SC220C best for Uber drivers, with its baked-in front-facing camera - which includes night vision capability. It might have won its Best for Uber Drivers accolade, but Incite D is betting it will be equally effective for just about anyone. Cobra's SC220C is currently available for 25 percent below its list price at $149.95.
