The display was inspired by well-known Frederick landmarks, including the city's historic skyline, the Catoctin Mountains and Carroll Creek Linear Park. DAVIS provided construction planning and technical support during the project, assisting with structural considerations such as load distribution, leveling methods and assembly techniques needed to construct the installation entirely from canned food. The completed sculpture earned awards for Structural Ingenuity and Best Meal during the competition. Community impact. Canstruction is an international charitable program that brings together architecture, engineering and construction teams to build artistic structures using canned food, which is later donated to local hunger relief organizations. According to event organizers, more than 25,000 canned goods were used during the inaugural Frederick competition. Following the event, the food will be donated through the Frederick Rescue Mission to support local hunger relief efforts. Why it matters. The project involves installing the radio frequency film on all the exterior windows on 2 1/2 floors of a building in suburban Washington, D.C. The space already was furnished for immediate occupancy by the tenant so furniture will have to be moved for CWS to gain access to the windows. Also, because of the sensitive nature of the tenant's work and its fully operational status, the installers will be accompanied by security escorts during the entire project.
