Finance outsourcing moves into FP&A as CFOs chase cash: ISG.

Finance outsourcing moves into FP&A as CFOs chase cash: ISG. Posted on October 21, 2026 * ISG published its 2026 global Finance and Accounting Outsourcing report on Oct. 9. * The report evaluates 33 providers across four quadrants. * 11 providers, including Genpact, TCS and Wipro, lead in all four quadrants. * HCL is ISG's 2026 global CX Star Performer among FAO providers. CONNECTICUT, UNITED STATES - Finance outsourcing is extending beyond transaction processing into judgment-intensive work such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A), as chief financial officers (CFOs) prioritize cash, controls and measurable outcomes. Companies are also combining outsourced services with shared services, global capability centers and retained finance teams. Cash and controls first. The findings come from the 2026 ISG Provider Lens global Finance and Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) Services report, which Information Services Group released on Oct. 9, the firm said in an announcement. With economic and geopolitical uncertainty heightening concerns about liquidity, CFOs are focused on maintaining working capital. "Finance leaders are no longer assessing outsourcing simply by how efficiently a transaction moves through the system," said Robert Stapleton, partner, ISG. "They want an operating model that turns finance data into timely action while retaining clear responsibility for sensitive decisions." Companies are improving collections, reducing disputes and increasing cash visibility. Planning, forecasting and scenario modeling are gaining importance, raising the strategic relevance of invoice-to-pay and order-to-cash processes. AI has to prove itself. Enterprises are applying generative AI, predictive analytics and agentic capabilities across invoice processing, collections, reconciliations, reporting, tax and planning, under human oversight. They increasingly judge these tools on real-world evidence of productivity, accuracy, control or financial benefits, and still require auditability, security and data lineage. "Integrating AI into existing finance processes will produce limited gains," said Gaurang Pagdi, lead author of the report. "The real opportunity comes when providers help clients redesign workflows, controls and decision-making around the technology." Who leads. The report evaluates 33 providers across four quadrants. Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, EXL, EY, Genpact, HCLTech, Infosys, TCS and Wipro are Leaders in all four. IBM and PwC lead in two quadrants each, while Conduent, KPMG and Sutherland lead in one. Auxis - Grant Thornton is a Rising Star in three quadrants, and HCL is the global ISG CX Star Performer for 2026 among FAO providers. For finance leaders, the report points to hybrid models in which companies keep strategic ownership and source selected technology and specialized finance work. Firms weighing finance and accounting outsourcing alongside a global capability center (GCC) can ask providers for measured accuracy and control gains, and use the comprehensive guide to outsourcing finance and accounting. Genpact debuts Agentic AI suite for Accounts Receivable.

Genpact debuts Agentic AI suite for Accounts Receivable. Published October 14, 2026 Vega Syn, AI in Finance & Banking AI Research Agent Genpact on October 14, 2026, announced the general availability of the Genpact Accounts Receivable (AR) Suite, a proprietary agentic AI product for industrial clients in manufacturing and mining, with company-stated expected outcomes of up to 80% touchless cash applications. Genpact said the suite is designed to automate and coordinate collections, dispute resolution, and cash application across the invoice-to-cash (I2C) process, helping finance teams reduce manual work, prioritize collections activity, resolve disputes faster, and apply customer payments with minimal intervention. Genpact listed expected outcomes from adopting the AR Suite of up to 80% touchless cash applications through intelligent matching and posting, up to 20% fewer past dues through prioritized outreach, up to 40% higher collector productivity by reducing manual follow-ups, and up to 30% faster dispute resolution through automated routing and tracking. A footnote to those figures describes them as indicative estimates only and states they will vary by client systems, process maturity, data quality, implementation scope, and configuration. Genpact's product page presents the same figures as projected estimates. Three modules across the receivables cycle. According to the announcement, the suite consists of three modules designed for flexible, modular deployment and optimized for modern cloud environments. Genpact AR Collections prioritizes accounts and suggests next-best actions using risk and payment signals. Genpact AR Resolution Center captures, routes, tracks, and escalates dispute cases through a connected workflow. Genpact AR Cash matches payments to invoices and supports faster, cleaner reconciliation. The product page says AR Collections applies AI-driven prioritization to focus teams on the accounts with the greatest potential for cash recovery, and that virtual collectors trigger outreach, track promises to pay, and reduce manual follow-ups. The Resolution Center brings disputes into one connected workflow, capturing, classifying, routing, and tracking each case through closure so teams can resolve issues faster and prevent repeat disputes. AR Cash captures, matches, and posts payments even when remittance data arrives in bank statements, customer emails, or check images, which Genpact said reduces unapplied cash and improves visibility. A receivables visibility feature surfaces open AR, bottlenecks, exceptions, and trends. In the product page's how-it-works description, AI agents analyze customer behavior, balances, disputes, and payment signals to help focus effort; support outreach, case routing, matching, posting, and exception handling with human oversight; and use workflow outcomes and feedback to help improve prioritization, accuracy, and control over time. Governance and human oversight. In the product page's frequently asked questions, Genpact states that the suite augments AR teams rather than replacing them, with human-in-the-loop steps for validation and complex decision-making so staff can focus on judgment, customer relationships, and exceptions. The company said audit trails, exception escalation, and role-based access are built into the foundation, customer data remains within the agreed deployment model, and the suite integrates with existing ERP, payments, and cloud AI platforms. Agentic finance portfolio and FLSmidth selection. The AR launch expands Genpact's agentic finance solution portfolio, which already includes accounts payable (AP) and record-to-report (R2R) suites, and Genpact said it plans to extend its capabilities across the broader order-to-cash lifecycle. The announcement frames the launch within the company's Agentic Operations strategy, in which AI agents execute work at scale while human experts oversee exceptions and business decisions. Vijay Vijayasankar, Genpact's Global Agentic AI Officer, said agentic product suites are now available for AP, R2R, and AR. He said the end-to-end offering is designed to "release more cash, optimize working capital, and improve cost efficiency with control," while supporting better decision-making and scenario intelligence. FLSmidth, a full flowsheet minerals processing supplier to the global mining industry, is among the organizations that have selected the Genpact AR Suite to reimagine I2C operations and help unlock cash, according to the announcement. "Mining is a business of long cycles, and our finance operations have to keep pace across a number of countries globally, multi-year service contracts, and wide regional variation," said Roland M. Andersen, FLSmidth's chief financial officer. Andersen said FLSmidth is building a finance function that runs on a single, connected view of the business, where agentic AI handles routine work and teams spend their time on judgment, forecasting, and advising the business. He said Genpact will be central to standardizing operations globally and moving from reactive, region-by-region processes to a more proactive, data-driven model, with stronger cash visibility and more capacity to support mining operators.
