Kaylyn Kyle announces MLS departure.

Kaylyn Kyle announces MLS departure. Former Canadian soccer star Kaylyn Kyle is leaving MLS after four years as a host and analyst on the league's Apple TV broadcasts. Throughout its Apple TV era, former Canadian soccer star Kaylyn Kyle has been a fixture as a key host for their studio presentation. Kyle had 101 caps for Canada from 2007 to 2018, winning a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and playing for several NWSL clubs. She then transitioned into the media world, first with TSN in Canada and then with Inter Miami as a sideline reporter, before joining MLS in 2023. Video Muted On Wednesday, Kyle stated in an Instagram post that she is leaving MLS for a new opportunity after four years with the league. "The Hardest Goodbye. Four years ago, I started a new chapter with Major League Soccer and Apple TV, never knowing just how deeply it would shape me, challenge me, and quietly change my life in all the best ways. I'm incredibly proud of what we created, the memories we made, and the opportunities this job gave me. But the hardest part of leaving isn't the job - it's the people," Kyle wrote in an Instagram post. She also shared, "I'm so excited for this next chapter, but walking away from the people who made these four years so full of love is incredibly hard. I'm leaving the job, but I'm carrying my 5 best friends, every memory, and all the love with me." When reached by Awful Announcing, Major League Soccer confirmed Kyle's last show will be August 19th. Kyle was a major part of the MLS on Apple team, appearing on MLS Countdown and MLS 360. She has been active on Leagues Cup coverage this month, with league play taking a break for the MLS-Liga MX competition. It will be fascinating to see what is next for Kaylyn Kyle. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, she worked for Fox Sports as a host of the network's digital coverage alongside several other soccer stars from across America and around the globe. Given Kyle's experience as a host, analyst, and reporter, she would make for a great addition to any network currently covering soccer. The beginning of the European campaigns is just a couple of weeks away, and pretty much all the major networks now have a slice of the action, whether it's NBC with the Premier League, ESPN with La Liga, CBS with Serie A and the Champions League, USA with the Bundesliga, and Fox with international coverage. Looking ahead, Netflix will also have to build out a talent roster for its presentation of the 2027 Women's World Cup next summer. So there's no shortage of opportunities out there as Kyle looks towards what might be next.

Apple TV considers chasing British Open rights.

Apple TV considers chasing British Open rights. The addition of the tournament would mark Apple TV's first golf broadcasting deal. - August 13, 2026 Known for breaking major streaming stories, he's covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock's ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting. Is Apple TV about to tee off its life as a golf broadcast partner? Having already inked deals - with varying levels of success - for Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, and Formula 1, it appears that the streaming service is getting ready to throw its hat into the ring for arguably golf's most prestigious tournaments. Per a new report, Apple TV has had talks about bidding for the Open Championship, known colloquially as The British Open. Key details: * Give it a try: Apple TV is pondering a pursuit of American broadcast rights to the British Open. * Coming up: The Open's current media deal with NBC expires in 2028. * On and off: If Apple TV gets the rights, the Open Championship would arrive just as MLS games are leaving. Article continues below this related video: Something is interfering with this video Turn off ad blockers to watch this or try refreshing this page As first reported by The Guardian, Apple TV has had preliminary discussions with the R&A, the governing body of The Open Championship formerly known as the Royal and Ancient Society, about making a formal bid on the tournament's rights. The formal tender process won't take place until early 2027, but it appears that Apple is already making its intentions known. The British Open's current American broadcasting deal with NBC remains in place until 2028, and the tournament is expected to draw strong interest from streamers once it expires. Netflix and Prime Video could also be major contenders for the Open Championship. A source told The Guardian that Apple plans to continue searching for sports properties that are a good fit. That ambition comes despite the faltering of a major deal between Apple and Major League Soccer to stream 100% of that league's games each season. Apple and MLS announced in November that deal would end in 2029, three years earlier than it was initially planned to. The jury is still out on Apple's deal with Formula 1 to stream all Grand Prix events and other F1 coverage through 2030. The streamer also broadcasts a handful of MLB games every week during the season. But if Apple TV does get its hands on the British Open, it will welcome the tournament right around the same time that it says goodbye to MLS games.

Alexis Sánchez arrives in MLS after 18 years in Europe.

Alexis Sánchez arrives in MLS after 18 years in Europe. CF Montreal adds the experience of a player like Alexis Sánchez who won 17 titles in Europe. 11 Aug 2026, 21:57 PM EDT Alexis Sánchez's European career has come to an end. The Chilean forward was announced this Tuesday as a new player for CF Montréal, the club with which he will play the remainder of the 2026 season and the 2027 campaign of Major League Soccer. The 37-year-old attacker lands in Canada after closing his spell at Sevilla and joins as a free agent. The agreement also includes an option to extend the link during the 2027-28 season. MEP Bernd Lange calls for overturning US tariffs in court over forced labor. Montreal will register him as a franchise player, a mechanism popularly known as the 'Beckham Rule', which allows MLS clubs to have players excluded from the salary cap. The operation marks a transcendental change in the trajectory of the Chilean, who had remained in Europe uninterrupted since 2008. "I am grateful to the club for the confidence they have placed in me and I am eager to put my experience at the service of the team so that we can achieve our goals and create unforgettable moments for our fans," expressed Sánchez in the statement released by the club. "I am here to give everything for the club and for this city," he added. The close of an extensive European chapter. Sánchez arrived in European football at just 20 years old, when he left River Plate to join Udinese in Italy. From that moment he built a career that took him through seven clubs in four different leagues. In addition to Udinese and Sevilla, he wore the shirts of Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, Olympique de Marseille and Inter Milan. His career included spells in the Italian Serie A, the English Premier League, the Spanish La Liga and the French Ligue 1, an uncommon combination among South American players of his generation. During that period he lifted 17 official titles: three leagues, one Copa del Rey, two FA Cups, one Coppa Italia, one UEFA Super Cup, two Italian Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, three Community Shields and one Club World Cup. With Barcelona he shared a squad with Lionel Messi and was part of the team that won the La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Cup in 2012. A new challenge in Canada. The sporting challenge he will find in Montreal is demanding. The Canadian side currently occupies the second-to-last position in the Eastern Conference with 16 points in 18 matches and is seven points away from the postseason zone. Sánchez's arrival also comes during a transitional season for MLS, which is working on adapting its calendar to that of the main European leagues. With his signing, the club bets on the international experience of the most recent benchmark of Chilean football to try to change the course of a complicated campaign. Sánchez leaves behind 18 years of European football and for the first time in his career opens a chapter in North America, where he will seek to bring leadership and experience to a team in need of immediate results.
