About the job

Requirements
  • Proven experience in semiconductor process development, integration, or pilot-line scale-up.
  • Hands-on expertise in wafer bonding, epitaxial growth (III-V and/or GaN), and supporting unit processes such as chemical mechanical planarization, thermal processing, and metallization readiness.
  • Experience defining end-to-end process flows and transitioning technologies from lab or prototype stage to pilot production.
  • Strong background in yield engineering, statistical process control, process control, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience selecting, qualifying, and sustaining semiconductor process equipment and metrology tools.
  • Experience producing comprehensive process documentation and transfer packages suitable for industry-grade sampling.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a pilot environment with evolving processes, tight timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end process-flow definition for the targeted platform, including module boundaries, critical interfaces, and the maturity roadmap to pilot scale.
  • Lead hands-on process development and optimization across critical modules, including wafer-bonding process development, metal-organic chemical vapor deposition epitaxy development for III-V/GaN on silicon, and supporting unit processes such as chemical mechanical planarization, thermal processes, metallization readiness, coating, and cleaning modules.
  • Implement pilot-ready quality controls by defining critical-to-quality parameters and establishing statistical process control and process-control monitors.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for process excursions and systematic defects; own yield-ramp plans and sustainment.
  • Select, qualify, and operationalize pilot-production toolsets, including tool-acceptance criteria, recipe portability, and preventive-maintenance routines.
  • Serve as technical owner interfacing with external foundries for wafer-processing, re-entry flows, and backend integration, and with epitaxy/material suppliers on qualification plans, incoming specifications, performance scorecards, and supply-chain stabilization.
  • Produce pilot-line transfer documentation, including process flows, bills of materials, specifications, recipes, control plans, failure mode and effects analyses, lot genealogy and traceability structures, and industry-sampling documentation covering certificates of conformance/analysis expectations, reliability-test hooks, and measurement definitions.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning process, integration, metrology, and equipment functions; establish execution cadence and drive structured troubleshooting to deliver stable pilot outcomes.

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 brought Playground Global and Matter Venture Partners into the US$117 million NUS VC programme.
  • The Studio in Silicon Valley gives founders labs, prototyping, and direct market validation.
  • UnternehmerTUM partnership opens European customers, investors, and talent for NUS deep-tech startups.

What critics are saying

  • Nova cannot fix NUS’s unlicensed IP glut; 70%-80% of university patents stay unlicensed.
  • Shanghai and Munich outposts demand local dealflow; thin execution turns expansion into overhead.
  • If NUS ventures never produce a $100 million company by 2035, NUSX becomes branding theater.

What makes NUS Enterprise unique

  • Sept. 24, 2026 rebrand to NUSX unifies venture building and IP commercialization.
  • Nova scans 20,000 patents and 9,000 projects, compressing commercialization from weeks to minutes.
  • NUSX now spans Silicon Valley, Munich, and Shanghai across research, capital, and talent.

NUS Enterprise rebrands as NUSX, launches AI-powered IP tool and expands to Munich, Shanghai

NUS Enterprise has rebranded as NUSX, expanding its role as an integrated venture-building and IP commercialisation platform. The transformation aligns with Singapore's Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 plan, which commits S$37 billion over five years. NUSX is establishing global outposts beyond Silicon Valley to include Munich and Shanghai, providing deep tech ventures with access to overseas markets, partners and investors. The platform launched Nova, an AI-powered engine developed with Zima Labs that analyses patents and identifies commercial opportunities in minutes, drawing on over 20,000 NUS patents and 9,000 research projects. NUSX has partnered with UnternehmerTUM to strengthen its presence in Munich's innovation ecosystem. The platform focuses on four deep tech areas: Logic, Pulse, Resilience and Matter. By 2035, NUSX aims to create at least one venture generating over $100 million in annual revenue.
