Requirements
  • Must have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Mine Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and report on findings.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week during the full-time summer internship.
Responsibilities
  • Run loss reports and research policyholder history.
  • Review previous safety and loss control reports.
  • Accompany Consultants on job-site visits and assist with identifying loss hazards.
  • Prepare safety and loss control reports, including recommendations to assist policyholders with reducing losses.
  • Analyze loss runs for accident patterns and injury patterns.
  • Assist in developing cost-effective methods of correcting hazardous conditions.
  • Research literature, standards, laws, and rules to provide employers with effective solutions.
  • Assist with PowerPoint presentations for training.
  • Participate in management training programs.
  • Recognize conditions or exposures requiring an industrial hygiene and/or ergonomic evaluation.

Encova Insurance Appoints Ramu Lingala As Chief Information Officer

Encova Insurance has named Ramu Lingala as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, succeeding longtime CIO Tony Laska, who will retire at the end of this year.Lingala officially assumed the role on May 1 after joining the company in February to become familiar with its operations and culture.Laska, who has held key leadership roles at BrickStreet, Motorists, and Encova, will remain with the company in an advisory capacity through the end of 2025.“I want to congratulate Tony on a successful career and thank him for his unmatched contributions to BrickStreet, Motorists and now Encova,” said Encova President and CEO TJ Obrokta Jr. “I still remember recruiting him many years ago and the remarkable impact he had during the early years of BrickStreet.
