  • Develop suppliers to meet scaling, capability, and technical maturity requirements through structured development plans and capability assessments.
  • Foster supplier innovation by aligning emerging materials technologies—including glass, crystalline materials, coatings, and surface treatments—with waveguide and AR/VR product roadmaps.
  • Support NPI by qualifying new and alternate suppliers, validating materials, and ensuring readiness from prototype through pilot, ramp, and volume production.
  • Assess supply chain risks across quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and geopolitical exposure, and implement mitigation plans and dual-sourcing strategies.
  • Lead supplier integration and quality due diligence activities for acquisitions, strategic partnerships, or emerging suppliers.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Sourcing, and Operations to align specifications, resolve escalations, and scale next-generation photonics technologies in support of AR market growth.

About the Company

Applied Materials

Builds equipment for chip and display factories

Applied Materials designs and builds precision machines that chipmakers and display manufacturers use to form, shape and inspect thin layers of material. Its platforms handle steps such as depositing films and removing unwanted material, helping chipmakers create transistors and wiring at atomic scale. Customers include makers of logic chips and memory, as well as manufacturers of advanced displays. The company earns money from equipment sales, replacement parts and services, and factory software that schedules production and monitors manufacturing processes. Applied Materials was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
