Requirements
  • Age 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • TB screening, First Aid/CPR, and Proxy Caregiver Certifications are required; training will be provided.
  • Minimum one year of experience in healthcare, insurance, or caregiving.
  • A valid Georgia driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report is required.
  • Live within commuting distance of the NAMI facility, group home, and duplex.
  • Be proficient with computer and office equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise residents in all daily aspects of the residential program.
  • Lead groups and group activities.
  • Act as a liaison with care providers and case workers to support residents' program outcomes and quality of life.
  • Communicate with doctors, family members, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with medication administration, medication replenishment, and related documentation.
  • Learn each resident's diagnosis and care plan to support treatment outcomes.
  • Serve as a role model for residents.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and current program documentation and records.
  • Document residents' medical, behavioral, and physical changes.
  • Redirect resident behavior and intervene during inappropriate behavior.
  • Assist aggressive residents patiently and safely while complying with human rights regulations.
  • Supervise and assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other daily needs.
  • Provide shift and hour coverage as needed.
  • Transport and accompany residents to medical appointments, recreational activities, shopping trips, and other scheduled activities.
  • Coordinate residents' daily schedules and duties or activities.
  • Perform grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, and other household duties essential to program welfare.
  • Assist, monitor, or prompt residents to complete assigned activities.
  • Prepare residents' meals, shop for groceries as needed, and clean up after meal preparation.
  • Keep the home and equipment clean, sanitary, and in good working condition.
  • Participate in continuing education programs, seminars, workshops, and in-service training about intellectual disabilities.
  • Participate in staff and collaborative meetings.
  • Handle challenges, complaints, conflicts, and incidents patiently, respectfully, and diligently with minimal supervision.
  • Work with the Residential Manager and Executive Director to maintain policies and procedures, resident medication processes, and professional presentation.
  • Support residents' quality of life using normalization principles and treating them with consideration, respect, dignity, integrity, and individuality.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on staff and resident metrics for the group home and duplex.
  • Perform other relevant duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
