Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care in collaboration with physicians in the clinic and/or hospital according to established standards and practices.
  • Obtain complete medical histories and physical data from patients.
  • Interpret and integrate patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Perform physical examinations and record findings.
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing patients' medical needs.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans using principles of prevention.
  • Administer medications and injections.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding health maintenance and recommend community resources to meet patient needs.
  • Instruct patients and families about medications and treatment instructions and provide patient education.
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Review test and examination results.
  • Consult with the supervising physician as appropriate.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
  • Manage medical emergencies.
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Complete encounter forms to ensure accurate billing.
  • Attend meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Work related duties as required.
