Production Supervisor
About the job
- An associate's degree is required.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
- Complete the daily production schedule by scheduling and assigning personnel to designated areas, establishing production priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules as needed or feasible, and reporting results in daily shift production pass-down summaries.
- Monitor line start-up to ensure lines are running within 10 minutes of shift start, document downtime, determine its causes, and escalate maintenance issues as needed to maintain productivity.
- Track employee attendance daily.
- Conduct hourly walks through the production area to hold staff accountable to production expectations, record production numbers, and take action when numbers do not align with goals.
- Track material usage to ensure materials are consumed at the time of use and track waste, including its source.
- Maintain a culture of safety and quality and ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures for safety, quality, and other procedures.
- Investigate safety issues, participate in identifying solutions, and take necessary action to ensure proper resolution.
- Escalate issues to Production Management when solutions or answers cannot be found.
- Ensure all team members are properly trained on production equipment, safety practices, and quality processes.
- Provide leadership to the team, communicate job expectations, monitor and evaluate performance, coach, counsel, and discipline employees, and enforce policies and procedures.
- Assist Human Resources, Training, and Production leaders with identifying and developing bench strength to promote employee engagement and maintain a positive plant culture.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to solicit buy-in from plant staff, promote project objectives, and help drive change management.
- Serve as backup to the Production Manager.
- Align with, adhere to, promote, and support all Stella and Chewy’s policies, procedures, and practices.
- Experience in food manufacturing is ideal.
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is a plus.
