Nearmap launches The Reality Layer podcast to explore the future of property intelligence.

Nearmap launches The Reality Layer podcast to explore the future of property intelligence. Sep 24, 2026, 08:02 ET Hosted by Nearmap Chief Product Officer David Tobias, new podcast brings together leaders across insurance, government, AECO, and commercial real estate to explore AI, data, and the future of property intelligence SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Nearmap, the global property intelligence company, today announced the launch of The Reality Layer, a new podcast hosted by Nearmap Chief Product Officer David Tobias that explores how technology, data, and artificial intelligence are changing the way organizations understand and act on the physical world. Launching today, The Reality Layer will bring together executives, practitioners, and technology leaders from across industries for candid conversations about the forces reshaping the built environment. Episodes will explore topics ranging from AI and property intelligence, to insurance underwriting and claims, catastrophe response, and the future of cities and communities. As organizations navigate rising loss costs, increasingly complex property risk, and growing pressure to make faster, more informed decisions, access to better data and intelligence is becoming increasingly important. The Reality Layer will examine these challenges through the experiences and perspectives of the people working to solve them. "There's an enormous amount happening in the physical world that we can't always see or understand from traditional data alone," said David Tobias, Chief Product Officer at Nearmap and host of The Reality Layer. "The combination of AI, geospatial technology and property intelligence is changing that. This podcast is about exploring what happens when we can see the world more clearly, and what organizations can do with that enhanced understanding." Each episode will feature conversations with industry leaders and subject-matter experts exploring both the opportunities and practical challenges facing organizations today. "We're at a point where technology is changing not just how businesses operate, but how they understand the world around them," continued Tobias. "The most interesting conversations are no longer about technology for technology's sake. They're about how organizations can turn data, AI, and new sources of intelligence into better decisions and better outcomes. That's what makes The Reality Layer such a timely conversation." The podcast is part of the Nearmap broader commitment to advancing the conversation around property intelligence and the role of technology in helping organizations better understand the built environment. Nearmap launches itel Total Price for guaranteed whole-home property claims pricing.

Nearmap launches itel Total Price for guaranteed whole-home property claims pricing. Nearmap, a property intelligence provider, has launched itel Total Price, a new whole-home pricing solution designed to provide guaranteed pricing for major exterior and interior building materials across property claims, with the solution now available within Verisk Xactimate(R). The product is intended to address challenges facing property insurers, including rising material costs, variations in estimates and greater scrutiny of claims settlements. According to Nearmap, disconnected pricing processes and limited visibility of local sourcing conditions can contribute to supplements, contractor disputes and longer claims cycles. Nearmap's itel Total Price provides pricing backed by fulfilment, with the company positioning the solution as a way for insurers to manage material costs throughout the claims process. Nearmap said the approach can help reduce supplements and disputes while providing greater consistency between estimates and settlements. "Insurers have told us they want material pricing backed by fulfillment without adding complexity to the adjuster workflow," commented Paul Disney SVP of Product at Nearmap. "itel Total Price gives carriers a single trusted source for guaranteed pricing across the entire home, helping improve claim outcomes within the trusted Verisk Xactimate(R) platform." Nearmap said the pricing database underpinning itel Total Price draws on more than 30 years of proprietary materials intelligence and historical pricing data from more than 15 million claims. The company noted that the pricing is continually validated against local market information from manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, retailers, distributors and big-box stores across the US. The pricing is backed by the itel Guarantee, which Nearmap said provides assurance that materials can be fulfilled at the quoted price. The company said this is intended to give insurers pricing that reflects local sourcing conditions and current market conditions. The solution also includes integrated pricing within Xactimate(R), which Nearmap said can be delivered in near real time. For cases requiring more detailed identification or specification, adjusters can use the itel NOW mobile app or submit physical samples for analysis. Nearmap said both options provide laboratory-verified, like-kind-and-quality pricing, with typical same-day or next-day service. These capabilities are included within itel Total Price at no additional charge, giving adjusters an alternative when they encounter unfamiliar materials or require additional pricing certainty. According to Nearmap, early customers using itel Total Price have achieved returns on investment of up to 10 times through lower supplement frequency, shorter claims cycle times, reduced adjuster rework and greater control over indemnity expenditure. The company did not provide further details on the customers or methodology behind these results. "Property claims decisions are only as strong as the intelligence behind them," added David Tobias, Chief Product Officer at Nearmap. "itel Total Price represents an important step forward in its vision to deliver connected property intelligence that enables faster, more consistent, and more defensible claims decisions across the entire home. "When you combine 30 years of proprietary materials data with localised, real-time market intelligence and back it with a robust and proven fulfilment system, you get pricing that holds up from the estimate through to settlement." The range of covered exterior materials includes complete roofing systems, primary shingles, ice and water shield, roofing felt and ridge cap, as well as siding, exterior paint, windows and doors. Interior categories include flooring and associated installation accessories, interior paint, drywall, cabinets, insulation and other major materials. The company said additional materials will continue to be added to the solution. Within Xactimate, adjusters can request pricing for most materials in a claim in two clicks, according to Nearmap.

AURIN announces Nearmap data partnership: unlocking high-value geospatial intelligence for advancing Australia's Urban Research.

AURIN announces Nearmap data partnership: unlocking high-value geospatial intelligence for advancing Australia's Urban Research. High-resolution aerial imagery with property and location insights will help researchers, government, and industry better understand how Australia's cities, regions and infrastructure are changing. A new partnership between the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN) and Nearmap will give Australian researchers access to high-resolution aerial imagery, 3D data and AI-derived insights to support research with real-world impact. The partnership creates new opportunities for researchers to work with government, industry and communities on some of Australia's most pressing urban and regional challenges, from infrastructure planning and housing affordability to climate resilience, transport, land use and the future of cities. Nearmap is known for providing aerial imagery and rich property intelligence that helps organisations see, measure and understand change in the built environment. Through AURIN, approved researchers will be able to use selected Nearmap data products to explore real-world conditions, test ideas, support evidence-based planning and develop outputs that can inform better decisions. The collaboration comes at a time when decision-makers are under growing pressure to understand change on the ground with greater accuracy and confidence. Cities are growing, infrastructure demands are shifting, climate risks are intensifying, and communities need more timely evidence to guide investment and action. AURIN Director, Professor Pascal Perez, said the partnership strengthens the connection between high-quality spatial data and research translation. "Researchers need access to trusted, real-world data if their work is to help shape better decisions. This partnership with Nearmap gives Australian researchers a powerful new way to observe change, generate evidence and work with partners across government and industry to turn research into impact." AURIN Director, Professor Pascal Perez Nearmap's aerial imagery and data insights can support a wide range of research activities, including urban and regional planning, infrastructure assessment, built-environment change, environmental monitoring, scenario modelling, and three-dimensional visualisation. The partnership also provides a practical pathway for government and industry organisations to engage with researchers around shared challenges. Rather than treating data access as an endpoint, AURIN focuses on enabling research partnerships that can produce useful outputs, critical insights, and innovative proof-of-concepts that support decision-making. Nearmap Chief Product Officer, David Tobias, said the partnership reflects the growing importance of geospatial intelligence in shaping better outcomes for the built environment. "Nearmap helps organisations move from uncertainty to evidence by providing a clearer, more current view of the world on the ground. Through this partnership with AURIN, researchers can apply that intelligence to questions that matter for Australia's cities, regions and communities." Nearmap Chief Product Officer, David Tobias The first phase of access will support exploration and feasibility assessment, with more in-depth access available through a staged application process. AURIN will work with researchers to understand their project needs and support appropriate, responsible use of the data. For government agencies, councils, infrastructure organisations, planners, consultants, and industry partners, the partnership creates an opportunity to connect with Australia's urban research community and explore how high-resolution geospatial intelligence can support practical outcomes. AURIN Head of Product, Josh Clough, said the value of the partnership lies not only in access to data, but in what researchers and partners can build from it. "The real opportunity is to bring the right people, data and questions together. When researchers can work with current, high-quality geospatial information and engage with partners who have real-world problems to solve, the pathway from research to impact becomes much clearer." AURIN, Josh Clough Researchers and organisations interested in exploring Nearmap-enabled research opportunities are encouraged to contact AURIN to discuss project ideas, access eligibility and potential pathways for collaboration. About AURIN. AURIN is a national research infrastructure supporting researchers, government, not-for-profits, and industry. AURIN provides access to high-value, hard-to-get datasets and expert support, enabling innovative research and development in response to critical challenges facing Australia's cities, infrastructure systems, and local communities.
