Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an Architectural, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) or Engineering field is required, with demonstrated written and verbal skills.
  • At least 15 years of experience in healthcare facility development and/or the healthcare facility planning, design, and construction industry is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong and fair negotiation skills are required.
  • The role requires sensitivity and confidentiality when dealing with confidential facility projects and affiliations.
  • Knowledge of building codes, Facilities Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines, and healthcare planning is required.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
  • The role requires the ability to lift over 50 pounds, push or pull up to 140 pounds, carry 80 pounds short distances, and frequently stand, walk, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, and reach overhead.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Design and Construction Department's corporate services, ensuring the Network's consolidated facilities planning, design, and construction support drive value while balancing workload and leadership priorities.
  • Manage execution of the capital program through management of Planning, Design, and Construction project management staff.
  • Ensure the basis of design and project scope, budget, and schedule are clearly defined and adhered to.
  • Ensure proper staffing of the workload by utilizing centralized Planning, Design, and Construction staff resources as required.
  • Assist the Planning, Design, and Construction Vice President with policy, Standard Operating Procedure, and best-practice development and implementation.
  • Assist the Planning, Design, and Construction Vice President with staff training, performance reviews, and feedback.
  • Approve project financial transactions, including budget approvals, commitments, and invoices, through the Planning, Design, and Construction project management system.
  • Ensure adherence to Jefferson policies and procedures and all external regulatory requirements in the execution of capital projects.
  • Work with senior leadership and the Campus Space Planner to develop project scope and project budgets supporting the annual capital budget and Integrated Strategic Facilities Plan planning.
  • Assist in developing and ensure implementation and maintenance of enterprise standards.
  • Provide complete and accurate reports on capital project progress and financials.
  • Lead development and execution of the Design and Construction Department's long-term goals and drive continuous improvement to increase value and enable Network leadership to make informed, early value decisions on projects.
  • Ensure all Design and Construction support services comply with applicable local, state, federal, and accrediting-agency regulations, as well as Internal Audit, Finance, and contract-procurement policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with senior Network leadership and industry partners to lead the selection, development, and ongoing facilitation of high-performing project teams.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop new Design and Construction colleagues, and provide ongoing training and professional development for current colleagues aligned with the Network's vision, mission, and values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Planning, Design, and Construction.
