About the job

Requirements
  • The candidate must have 7 or more years of combined experience across software engineering, data engineering, solutions engineering, or technical product roles.
  • The candidate must be able to take an ambiguous problem through to a working solution, including building the prototype directly.
  • The candidate must have a proven record of cross-functional collaboration with platform or infrastructure engineering teams, including writing requirements for partner delivery.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Python and modern data tooling and be able to build standalone solutions.
  • The candidate must have hands-on experience designing and deploying generative artificial intelligence or agentic solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, large language models, and agents.
  • The candidate must have strong product judgment, including knowledge of user interface and user experience, workflow design, and human factors affecting tool adoption.
  • The candidate must be able to produce clear architectural diagrams and technical documentation for non-technical stakeholders.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with App Review specialists, leadership, and policy stakeholders to understand review workflows, identify breakdowns, and determine where automation or improved interfaces can improve quality, consistency, and throughput.
  • Build prototypes and solutions directly, including a Swift app integrating with a platform API and scripts that evaluate data or run process-automation tasks.
  • Define clear technical requirements with Apple Services Engineering platform teams, artificial intelligence and machine learning platform teams, and other cross-functional partners so they can build stable, reliable, production-grade infrastructure.
  • Make build-versus-partner decisions by owning lightweight exploratory work and routing systems requiring long-term reliability, scale, and operational ownership to appropriate engineering partners.
  • Design and deploy generative artificial intelligence and agent-based solutions, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agents, to augment review, surface risk, and reduce manual effort.
  • Determine when an off-the-shelf large language model call is sufficient and when a problem requires the artificial intelligence and machine learning platform teams, translating requirements between stakeholders.
  • Design intuitive, fast, and trusted tools and workflows for daily users.
  • Drive adoption by observing specialists using delivered tools, identifying failures, and iterating on the solutions.
  • Define success measures, instrument solutions, and iterate based on real usage and outcomes.
  • Communicate designs, trade-offs, and results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership and engineering partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience operating at the intersection of policy, operations, and engineering by building systems that apply rules and standards consistently at scale.
  • Familiarity with App Review, trust and safety, content moderation, or comparable operational review domains.
  • Experience integrating with internal platform and artificial intelligence and machine learning services, with judgment about when to prototype versus invest in partner-built infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-direction and proactive ownership, with creative and critical thinking and the ability to manage multiple efforts simultaneously.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills.
