Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Understand AS9102 requirements.
  • Five years of supervision experience in an aerospace manufacturing background, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a production-environment leadership role.
  • Previous computer use experience.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Ability to meet the role's physical demands, including occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide communication between the shop floor and internal support groups to address information requests, quality issues, schedule priorities, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure shop-floor schedules are followed and estimated completion dates are provided and maintained accurately.
  • Process employee timecards daily.
  • Organize work staging areas to maximize productivity through lean activities.
  • Ensure operators have the tools and materials needed to perform their jobs.
  • Monitor and maintain internal shop schedules, including daily entry of estimated completion dates and status notes, adherence to work schedules, tracking queue days, and tracking LTN entries in each area.
  • Complete root cause corrective actions as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity gains.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and company safety policies are followed.
  • Guide, coach, and mentor direct reports, including supervisors, managers, and leads.
  • Ensure direct reports fulfill responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints.
  • Monitor overtime utilization and shop downtime.
  • Review scrap and implement root cause corrective actions to reduce or eliminate it.
  • Reduce equipment repair costs by ensuring preventive measures are implemented and followed.
  • Lead change-management initiatives to adapt to evolving industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Stop production orders when quality concerns arise.
  • Ensure employees wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.
