Nissan e-POWER wins 2026 Wards 10 Best award.

Nissan e-POWER wins 2026 Wards 10 Best award. 15 October 2026 Autosphere " Dealerships " Nissan e-POWER wins 2026 Wards 10 Best award. Nissan's e-POWER hybrid powertrain, making its North American debut in the upcoming 2027 Rogue Hybrid, has been named to the 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list. The selection of Nissan's e-POWER system for a 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines award validates transmission-free series-hybrid architecture for North American fleet operations. Nissan's e-POWER hybrid powertrain, making its North American debut in the upcoming 2027 Rogue Hybrid, has been named to the 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list. The award marks Nissan's 21st recognition by the industry panel, highlighting advancements in drivetrain engineering, torque delivery, and overall efficiency. Engineered specifically for North American driving cycles, the third-generation e-POWER system utilizes a series-hybrid setup distinct from conventional parallel hybrid crossovers. A dedicated gas engine functions solely as an onboard generator to charge the drive battery, while dual electric motors power the wheels directly. Eliminating the multi-speed transmission reduces mechanical complexity and wear, delivering linear acceleration and an estimated combined fuel rating of 6.2 L/100 km alongside single-pedal regenerative braking. For Canadian fleet managers and commercial vehicle buyers, the 2027 Rogue Hybrid provides an electrified option that eliminates charging downtime. The vehicle arrives in Canadian dealerships in late 2026 starting with the AWD SR trim, with the full lineup launching in early 2027 at a base MSRP of $39,998 CAD for the SV grade.

Mattel Brick Shop gets into the vintage Nissan game with the original Skyline GT-R.

Mattel Brick Shop gets into the vintage Nissan game with the original Skyline GT-R. The legendary boxy ancestor to the Godzilla GT-R gets the building-block treatment. * JDM enthusiasts are finally getting a brick building set of a boxy hero car. * The first to wear the Skyline GT-R badge, the full-size version of this fierce little coupe racked up the victories in Japanese touring car racing. * The set comes with additional parts to customize the car for racing, metal pieces, and a matching Hot Wheels model. The enthusiast nickname for the KPGC-10 chassis Skyline GT-R is hakosuka: "hako" for "box" and "suka" as an abbreviation of the Japanese pronunciation of Skyline. It's literally the boxiest of the Skyline breed, and as such, you have to wonder why no one has ever made a model out of interlocking bricks. Only the Volvo 240 would be a more suitable subject for the medium. Well, wonder no longer, because Mattel's Brick Shop has finally given vintage JDM iron fans just what they wanted. Released in a hefty 1:16 scale, the model is made up of 833 pieces, can be customized for road or race spec, and of course comes with a matching Hot Wheels die-cast to go with. For sale near you. It's also the first Nissan to be built in partnership with Mattel Brick Shop, which means there may be more models in the pipeline down the road. A classic Datsun 510 or 240Z? Caranddriver'll just have to wait and see. If you're not up to speed on what made the first Skyline GT-R so special, here's a quick summary. As part of the 1960s homogenization of the Japanese auto industry, Nissan had snapped up Prince, a higher-end manufacturer. The former Prince engineers operated a bit like the specialists within Porsche that build its GT cars, and they were strongly interested in motorsport. First, those engineers pulled off the classic trick of taking the engine from one of their larger sedans and stuffing it into the nose of a mid-sizer. This move created the inline-six-powered Skyline 2000GT, which had some initial success. The C10 generation of Skyline received further sorting out, and in 1969, Nissan launched the 2000 GT-R, first as a sedan and later a coupe. These cars were enormously competitive in Japanese touring car racing, with 50 racing victories by 1972. Part of the hakosuka"s heritage is the internal rivalry between Nissan's engineers and those who had originally worked for Prince. The GT-R's 2.0-liter inline-six was also installed in a rare version of the contemporary 240Z called the Z432, and these competed directly against the Skylines. However, the team formerly working for Prince kept all the best racing parts for themselves. In the case of this scale model, you can do your own pint-size wrenching. There are two sets of interchangeable wheels, a racing splitter and headlight covers, and even an external oil cooler. A 1970s Skyline GT-R on black Watanabe racing wheels is as iconic overseas as an orange Mustang Boss 302 would be here with the latter's Trans-Am racing history. The set also comes with functioning doors, an opening hood, and working steering, and the tires are even actual Yokohamas under license. For $59.99, the set seems like the usual solid offering Mattel Brick Shop is becoming known for, and it should certainly please JDM enthusiasts in the audience. Availability starts in January 2027. Mitsubishi Triton-based Honda bakkie in the works for 2028 launch - report.

Mitsubishi Triton-based Honda bakkie in the works for 2028 launch - report. Posted October 12, 2026 By: Nikesh Kooverjee Honda may finally be considering entering the body-on-frame bakkie game by adopting Mitsubishi's capable Triton platform, with a global release possibly happening as early as 2028... Honda is reportedly planning to source the Mitsubishi Triton under an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement. Reports from Japanese publication Yomiuri suggest this move represents the first major product rollout from the ongoing strategic talks between the two automakers. Industry rumours suggest the Triton-based Honda bakkie will launch in Southeast Asia by 2028, with the companies reportedly assessing introducing this model to additional global markets at a later stage. The proposed arrangement aims to strengthen ties across a developing three-way alliance that also includes Nissan. The report further suggests that Honda wants to source additional vehicle platforms from Mitsubishi in the future. The two brands are allegedly considering the joint development of cabin components. Although Honda ended formal merger discussions with Nissan in February 2025, collaborative talks across Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi have continued. Honda and Nissan reached an agreement in August 2026 to jointly develop core software-defined vehicle technology. Honda already sells the Ridgeline unibody bakkie in North America. Honda currently lacks a dedicated ladder-frame bakkie in its global portfolio. Facing market headwinds in Southeast Asia, Honda reportedly views the Triton as a quick solution to bolster regional sales, while avoiding massive development costs. The Honda Ridgeline exists as a US-exclusive utility pickup. This model is underpinned by the firm's Global Light Truck heavy-duty unibody platform, which is shared with three-row crossovers like the Pilot and Passport. This adoption sets it apart from traditional body-on-frame offerings in the region. Key benefits of the direction include improved ride quality, handling, and structural rigidity. Honda designed and engineered this platform specifically for North American consumer preferences, with the Ridgeline exclusively built at the manufacturer's Lincoln plant in Alabama. Because global markets outside Canada and the United States favour more traditional ladder-frame bakkies like the Toyota Hilux, which retained first place among the best-selling bakkies in South Africa in September 2026, and the Ford Ranger, Honda limits the V6 petrol-powered unibody Ridgeline to the North American market. This strategy caters directly to buyers who prioritise everyday crossover drivability over high-payload commercial utility. Find your ideal car search cars. Nissan to roll out china-made Frontier Pro pickup in Mexico.

Nissan to roll out china-made Frontier Pro pickup in Mexico. Nissan Motor announced in October 2026 that it will launch the Frontier Pro pickup truck in Mexico this month, marking the 1st vehicle engineered and produced by its Chinese joint venture that the automaker will export. The model is scheduled to go on sale later in Southeast Asia and Australia. Engineers at Nissan's joint venture in China developed and produced the pickup truck. The launch represents the company's first export corridor for vehicles assembled by its manufacturing operations in China. Exporting from Chinese assembly lines. Auto manufacturers in Japan face intense price competition and slowing retail momentum in China, where local electric vehicle makers continue to capture market share. Redirecting excess manufacturing capacity in China toward export destinations allows legacy brands to defend overall plant utilization. Shipping finished vehicles from Chinese joint ventures to markets in the Americas and Asia-Pacific lowers build costs compared to exporting directly from Japanese or North American factories. Mexico serves as the initial test market for the model before Nissan introduces the vehicle to buyers across right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive territories in the Asia-Pacific region. Expanding to Southeast Asia and Australia. Dealerships across Southeast Asia and Australia will receive the Frontier Pro following the Latin American debut. Both regions represent established pickup truck markets where Japanese brands have long competed against American and emerging Chinese utility vehicles. Distributors in Australia and Southeast Asian markets face growing consumer interest in cost-competitive commercial and lifestyle trucks. Supplying those showrooms directly from China gives Nissan an established product line at price points engineered to counter recent inroads by Chinese commercial vehicle exporters. Managing platform strategy across markets. Japanese carmakers are adjusting their global production footprints to counter trade barriers and shifting regional demand. Nissan is raising local production targets in North America while simultaneously using Chinese factory lines to feed price-sensitive export markets across the Pacific basin. The strategy places vehicle assembly in lower-cost manufacturing hubs without requiring greenfield capital expenditures in each destination country. Fleet operators and commercial vehicle buyers in target markets will see product lines sourced from joint-venture platforms originally built for the Chinese domestic segment. The timeline for regional rollouts. Deliveries in Mexico commence this month through Nissan's existing commercial network. The export program tests consumer reception to Chinese-built Nissan nameplates ahead of wider distribution. Showroom arrival dates and market-specific trim specifications for Southeast Asia and Australia will follow the initial Mexican release schedule as export shipments ramp up from the Chinese production facility. Questions & answers. Q. Why is Nissan exporting vehicles from its Chinese joint venture rather than from Japan or North America? A. Exporting from China helps Nissan defend overall plant utilisation and lowers build costs. This strategy counters intense price competition and slowing retail momentum within China itself. Q. What is the primary reason for Nissan's decision to export a China-made pickup truck to these markets? Q. Which specific markets will receive the Frontier Pro pickup truck after its initial launch in Mexico?

Nissan advances to Japan Championship main tournament for first time since revival; Sega Sammy, set to disband, eliminated

Nissan advances to Japan Championship main tournament for first time since revival; Sega Sammy, set to disband, eliminated Mainichi Shimbun 2026/10/6 12:33 (last updated 10/6 12:41) 348 characters The 51st Japan Adult Baseball Championship Kanto Regional Qualifier had its representative playoff on the 6th at Todoroki Stadium in Kawasaki City, where Nissan Motor defeated Sega Sammy, which will disband at the end of this season, 6-4, earning its first main-tournament appearance in 15 tournaments and 17th overall. Since resuming activities in 2025, this is its first appearance in either of the two major tournaments, including the Intercity Baseball Tournament. Nissan Motor suspended its baseball club after the 2009 season as part of restructuring measures due to the global financial crisis, but resumed activities in 2025. In this summer's Intercity Baseball Tournament West Kanto second-stage qualifier, it advanced to the playoff for the first representative spot for the first time since its revival, but missed out on a main-tournament berth. Meanwhile, Sega Sammy, which announced in May that it would disband at the end of this season, missed out on its first main-tournament appearance in four tournaments. In its final year, it was unable to appear in either the Intercity Baseball Tournament or the Japan Championship. The Japan Championship will feature 32 teams and opens on October 31 at Kyocera Dome Osaka. [Kaho Shimokobe] You can prioritize "Mainichi Shimbun" articles in Google Search. [Latest articles]
