Kyndryl opens first EU AI Innovation Lab in Luxembourg. Published on Friday, 02 Oct 2026 14:30 by EO Rate this item: On Friday 2 October 2026, technology services provider Kyndryl announced the opening of its first AI Innovation Lab in the European Union (EU) in Luxembourg, specialising in agentic artificial intelligence (AI) and expected to create up to 250 jobs by 2030. Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) will serve as the lab's founding client and partner. According to Kyndryl, the Luxembourg lab will allow clients from different sectors to work with its experts to identify areas where AI could be applied, develop working prototypes and move towards their implementation. The facility will focus particularly on regulated environments, including the financial sector and government, where the use of AI involves requirements concerning areas such as governance, security and data protection. Kyndryl has been directly supervised by Luxembourg's financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), since 2004 under its support Professional of the Financial Sector (PSF) status. The company is also designated as a critical third-party information and communication technology (ICT) service provider under the EU's Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). BIL will use the lab to explore how agentic AI could contribute to modernising business processes while maintaining standards related to governance, security and regulatory compliance. Petra Goude, President of Strategic Markets at Kyndryl, said: "We look forward to bringing Kyndryl's Agentic AI Framework, consulting and engineering expertise to clients across regulated industries and beyond, helping them unlock AI's potential and achieve measurable outcomes." Jeffrey Dentzer, CEO of BIL, added: "The Kyndryl AI Innovation Lab is a valuable opportunity to bring together BIL's deep banking expertise and Kyndryl's technology capabilities to turn innovation into concrete and measurable benefits for our clients. It will help us deliver simpler, more responsive services and better tools for our employees, while maintaining the strong security, responsible governance and trusted human advice that define our client relationships. The recent transfer of BIL employees to Kyndryl further strengthens this partnership." The Luxembourg facility joins Kyndryl's existing AI Innovation Labs in Liverpool, United Kingdom (UK), and Dallas, United States (US). According to Kyndryl's recently published modernisation study, 37% of European organisations ranked AI among their three main reasons for modernisation, compared with a global average of 34%. However, around half of European organisations reported falling behind in their modernisation initiatives, while 18% said their projects had so far delivered little value. Kyndryl said its network of AI Innovation Labs aimed to help clients move AI projects from initial ideas towards implementation.
Kyndryl shares jumped 5.8% after the IT infrastructure services provider announced the opening of its first US AI Innovation Lab in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The facility could create up to 300 roles in AI, technology consulting, and design engineering over four years. The company also released its first global Modernisation Report, which surveyed 2,000 business and technology leaders. The report found that AI adoption is driving enterprises to modernise both legacy and modern infrastructure, supporting the strategic rationale for the lab investment. Despite today's gain, Kyndryl is down 53.1% since the beginning of the year. The stock is trading at $11.97 per share, 60.9% below its 52-week high of $30.63 from October 2025.

[Photo: Kyndryl] IBM spinoff Kyndryl, a provider of enterprise-level IT infrastructure services, opened an AI innovation lab in Frisco Oct. 1. It is the company's first AI lab in the U.S. The lab, at 5844 John Hickman Parkway, could create up to 300 jobs in AI, tech consulting and design engineering over the next four years, Kyndryl said. The Frisco facility joins New York City-based Kyndryl's global network of AI labs, including locations in the United Kingdom and Luxembourg. Kyndryl occupies nearly 5,800 square feet in Offices 3 at Frisco Station, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. The renovation cost an estimated $500,000. A Kyndryl spokesperson confirmed the project's details. The company said it is investing in the Dallas-Fort Worth market "to advance AI innovation, workforce development and customer collaboration, reinforcing its long-term commitment to America's digital future." The Frisco lab will enable Kyndryl customers to explore AI use cases, develop working prototypes and create organizational AI roadmaps, Kyndryl said. Strengthening the innovation ecosystem Jamie Rutledge, president of Kyndryl U.S., said in a statement that the lab "brings customers together with Kyndryl experts to unlock the full value of AI while strengthening America's innovation ecosystem." "Powered by the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework and our deep consulting, engineering and infrastructure expertise, the lab gives customers a hands-on environment to experiment, innovate and turn ideas into outcomes with greater speed and confidence," Rutledge said. Kyndryl launched the agentic AI initiative in fiscal year 2026, which ended March 31. The framework is designed to help customers adopt and scale agentic AI across on-site, cloud and hybrid environments, the company said. 'Pioneering company' The new lab will lean on a combination of the company's AI framework, transformation practice, consulting and AI services, and infrastructure and engineering know-how, Kyndryl said. In Frisco, customers will work with Kyndryl experts in workshops, prototyping sessions and engineering exercises "to solve business challenges where AI can deliver measurable impact," the company said. "Kyndryl is a pioneering company that could have chosen any market in the United States, and its decision to establish a major innovation hub in Frisco underscores the strength of our community and the reputation we've earned as one of the best places in the country for growth, innovation and exceptional talent," Frisco Mayor Mark Hill said in a statement. Frisco lab partners and specialties The company said the lab is partnering with NPower, Dallas AI, Tech Titans and other local organizations to cultivate AI and tech skills in the DFW workforce. Kyndryl said it's an inaugural supporter of NPower's AI training program. The lab will also be home to a team dedicated to developing technology for motor vehicle agencies across the U.S. In addition, the lab will showcase Kyndryl's cybersecurity capabilities. "By combining AI-enabled insights, automation and Kyndryl's deep cybersecurity and network expertise, the integrated operating model helps customers accelerate incident response, strengthen resilience and improve overall IT performance," the company said. Why Kyndryl (KD) stock is up today. Adam hejl /. October 1, 2026 What happened? Shares of IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl (NYSE:KD) jumped 5.8% in the afternoon session after the company opened its first U.S. AI Innovation Lab in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. According to the company press release, the site could create up to 300 roles in AI, technology consulting, and design engineering over four years. Kyndryl also published its first global Modernization Report, surveying 2,000 business and technology leaders and finding that AI adoption is pushing enterprises to modernize both legacy and modern infrastructure - reinforcing the strategic case for the lab investment. What is the market telling us. Kyndryl's shares are very volatile and have had 27 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. The previous big move we wrote about was 7 days ago when the stock dropped 4.9% on the news that Fitch Ratings assigned a BBB rating to Kyndryl's senior notes offering. According to Fitch, the new senior notes rank pari passu with Kyndryl's existing senior unsecured debt. In a related prospectus filing, Kyndryl said it plans to use net proceeds to repay $700 million of its 2.05% senior notes maturing in October 2026, with remaining proceeds plus cash on hand intended to pay down revolving credit balances and related fees. Refinancing at investment-grade terms can ease maturity risk, but a large notes sale can still pressure the stock if investors focus on leverage, interest expense, or the signal that near-term cash is being redirected to debt paydown. Kyndryl is down 53.1% since the beginning of the year, and at $11.97 per share, it is trading 60.9% below its 52-week high of $30.63 from October 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Kyndryl's shares at the IPO in October 2021 would now be looking at an investment worth $293.62. ALSO WORTH WATCHING: Nvidia's Quiet Partner.
