Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Two years of progressively responsible clerical experience, including receptionist and scheduling duties, are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with electronic registration and medical record systems are required.
  • Customer service skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors, explain clinic procedures, answer routine questions, and facilitate adherence to the appointment schedule.
  • Schedule, cancel, and confirm patient appointments according to department criteria.
  • Register patients completely and accurately.
  • Answer phone calls, take accurate messages, and refer callers or messages to the appropriate party.
  • Maintain the department’s filing system according to established guidelines, including filing, preparing, and scanning lab slips, X-ray reports, and other medical records.
  • Affix scripts sent to Medical Records to 8 ½ by 11 paper with a current zebra label.
  • Assist with billing procedures and forms and prepare documents and forms sent to or received from referring physician offices.
  • Develop and maintain customer relations skills consistent with department guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to multitask and effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
  • An associate degree.
  • Experience in a medical office setting, including some billing experience.
