About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Four to eight years of experience in systems engineering, hardware integration, or manufacturing engineering in a server or high-performance computing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with system-on-chip troubleshooting, board-level debugging, failure analysis, and diagnostics involving low- and high-speed system interconnects, memory subsystems, power management, and power distribution.
  • Experience working in lab environments at scale.
  • Strong expertise in server architecture, including component firmware upgrade processes.
  • Experience debugging hardware, firmware, and operating-system levels using system event logs, kernel logs, system logs, and debug commands.
  • Working knowledge of provisioning and boot processes, including UEFI, DHCP, DNS, and PXE/Netboot.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash, or equivalent, with experience automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and validation workflows using tools such as Ansible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support for data center development programs and laboratories.
  • Handle data center escalations end-to-end by analyzing, reproducing, and identifying root causes of complex issues across design, prototyping, validation, and production.
  • Pilot proof-of-concept hardware and software and prepare new platforms for at-scale deployment in the data center.
  • Build scripts and tools to provision hardware, analyze large data sets and logs, and run benchmarking frameworks.
  • Set up custom and original equipment manufacturer data center hardware, run functional checks, document results, create triage runbooks, and enable critical lab deployments across multiple programs.
  • Ensure downstream teams successfully adopt and integrate new hardware platforms.
  • Support physical and remote lab activities for new programs and cross-functional teams.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and presentations for high-priority escalations, including status, debugging and failure-analysis efforts, and findings for leadership teams.
  • Set up data center hardware, run tests on pre-production hardware, and document results.
  • Build, maintain, and debug custom and original equipment manufacturer hardware to support multiple programs.
  • Deploy proof-of-concept hardware and software and pilot new hardware for use at scale in the data center.
  • Test hardware under varied environmental conditions for power and temperature.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware development, validation, data center, logistics, and software development teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • A Master of Science degree with three to five years of relevant experience.
  • New product introduction experience with data center server hardware, custom application-specific integrated circuits or system-on-chips, or high-density server environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues that appear to be software problems but originate in server hardware or firmware, including debugging interactions between high-speed buses, firmware, and operating-system behavior.
