Landor promotes James Withey as its first Global EVP of Strategy.

Landor promotes James Withey as its first Global EVP of Strategy. Withey has more than 25 years' experience across brand strategy, digital and research, and previously worked at Landor between 2001 and 2011, including as head of strategy for consumer brands. James Withey, Global EVP of Strategy, Landor. This news was first shared on Campaign UK. WPP-owned brand and design consultancy Landor has promoted James Withey as its first Global Executive Vice President of Strategy. Withey will lead Landor's global strategy team and oversee the evolution of its strategy proposition across corporate, consumer and experience. The role was designed to give clients access to deeper expertise within each of the three disciplines while connecting them through using the same standards, tools and ways of working. Withey will report to Jane Geraghty, Global Chief Executive of WPP Brand and Design and Landor, and Amal Attalah, European President of WPP Brand and Design. Geraghty said, "James is a trusted, forward-thinking strategic adviser to its clients and is already shaping how Campaign Middle East help brands win as AI increasingly influences the choices people make. "His unusually diverse background gives him the breadth to see where the industry is heading and the opportunities it creates. At a moment of such significant change, he's exactly the right person to lead our global strategy." Withey returned to Landor in 2021 as executive director of strategy and innovation, EMEA, and was promoted to his most recent role as global executive strategy director in 2023. He has more than 25 years' experience across brand strategy, digital and research, and previously worked at Landor between 2001 and 2011, including as head of strategy for consumer brands. Withey has also held senior roles at Siegel+Gale, Futurebrand, Brash Brands and Circus. Commenting on his appointment, Withey said, "Brand strategy is becoming more important than ever. As AI makes it easier to create, replicate and optimise, the challenge for brands is to have a genuinely differentiated idea at their core - one that can guide and connect what they say, what they do and the experiences they create." He added, "The opportunity now is to bring greater specialist depth to the different strategic challenges our clients face, while making sure those capabilities work together. Corporate, consumer and experience strategy each demand different expertise, but ultimately they need to add up to one coherent brand. I'm incredibly excited to work with our strategy leaders and teams around the world to build on the strength we already have and shape what comes next." Since returning to Landor, he has worked on transformation programmes for brands including A&O Shearman and LeShuttle. According to Landor, the appointment builds on a wider evolution of Landor and WPP's brand and design collective, with Withey also overseeing its agentic strategy roadmap. The move follows the appointment of Geraghty as Global Chief Executive of WPP Brand and Design and Global CEO of Landor in March this year, which also introduced a new leadership structure for the division. Anup Oommen is the Editor of Campaign Middle East at Motivate Media Group, a well-reputed moderator, and a multiple award-winning journalist with more than 15 years of experience at some of the most reputable and credible global news organisations, including Reuters, CNN, and Motivate Media Group. As the Editor of Campaign Middle East, Anup heads market-leading coverage of advertising, media, marketing, PR, events and experiential, digital, the wider creative industries, and more, through the brand's digital, print, events, directories, podcast and video verticals. As such he's a key stakeholder in the Campaign Global brand, the world's leading authority for the advertising, marketing and media industries, which was first published in the UK in 1968.

Landor promotes James Withey to Global EVP, Strategy.

Landor promotes James Withey to Global EVP, Strategy. Oct. 08, 2026 Global brand and design consultancy Landor, part of WPP, has promoted James Withey to the newly created role of Global EVP, Strategy, giving him global leadership of its strategy offer as it sharpens its strategic capabilities to help brands differentiate, resonate and grow in an increasingly agentic world. Withey will lead Landor's global team of strategists and oversee the continued evolution of its strategy offer across three core specialisms: corporate, consumer and experience. The role is designed to give clients greater depth of expertise within each discipline, while connecting them through common standards, tools and ways of working. The move builds on a wider evolution across Landor and WPP's brand and design collective. Earlier this year, WPP introduced a new global leadership model for its brand and design businesses under Jane Geraghty to connect specialist capabilities across brand, design, experience and performance. Withey's promotion further strengthens that model as clients seek deeper specialist expertise to solve increasingly complex brand and business challenges. He will also oversee the collective's agentic strategy roadmap, helping brands differentiate and build equity with people and AI simultaneously. Jane Geraghty, Global CEO, WPP Brand & Design and Landor, said: "I couldn't be more pleased; this is a very well earned promotion. James is a trusted, forward-thinking strategic advisor to our clients and is already shaping how we help brands win as AI increasingly influences the choices people make. His unusually diverse background gives him the breadth to see where the industry is heading and the opportunities it creates. At a moment of such significant change, he's exactly the right person to lead our global strategy." Withey brings more than 25 years' experience spanning brand strategy, digital, research, innovation and consultancy leadership. Alongside senior leadership roles at FutureBrand and Siegel+Gale, he has run three consultancies spanning private equity-backed and founder-led businesses, as well as his own brand consulting business - giving him a broad perspective across strategy, clients and the business of branding. He first joined Landor in 2001, spending almost ten years there and ultimately becoming Head of Strategy, Consumer Brands, before returning to the business in 2021. Since returning, Withey has played a central strategic role in some of Landor's most significant transformation programmes, including A&O Shearman and LeShuttle. He has also helped lead a number of Landor's major new business wins this year. Landor was named Campaign's Global Branding Agency of the Year 2025. James Withey, Global EVP, Strategy at Landor, said: "Brand strategy is becoming more important than ever. As AI makes it easier to create, replicate and optimise, the challenge for brands is to have a genuinely differentiated idea at their core - one that can guide and connect what they say, what they do and the experiences they create. The opportunity now is to bring greater specialist depth to the different strategic challenges our clients face, while making sure those capabilities work together. Corporate, consumer and experience strategy each demand different expertise, but ultimately they need to add up to one coherent brand. I'm incredibly excited to work with our strategy leaders and teams around the world to build on the strength we already have and shape what comes next." Withey reports to Jane Geraghty, Global CEO of WPP Brand & Design and Landor, and Amal Atallah, European President, WPP Brand & Design.

Landor designs human-centric trackside experiences for McLaren Racing.

Landor designs human-centric trackside experiences for McLaren Racing. Global brand and design consultancy Landor has created a multi-storey Team Hub and redesigned Garage experience for the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, aiming to support team performance and bring guests closer to trackside operations. Originally debuted at the Barcelona Grand Prix, the project addresses the increasing operational and commercial demands of an expanding global Formula One calendar for McLaren F1. Paul Chatelier, creative director at Landor, said, "Formula One is often framed as a story of engineering excellence. But technology only performs at its best when people do. The teams that win collaborate better, adapt faster and perform under pressure. Our creative challenge was to design environments that serve that purpose; spaces built to work as hard as the team, dismantled and rebuilt across a gruelling race calendar, as relentless as the team they house." Landor built the design strategy on the premise that while engineering and technical innovation remain fundamental to motor racing, human performance ultimately determines outcomes on the track. The trackside facilities are consequently configured to foster collective focus, team collaboration, and deeper engagement between engineers, drivers, commercial partners, and guests across each race weekend. A three-storey structure. The Team Hub functions as a mobile, multi-floor building designed to be assembled and disassembled at international grand prix locations. The interior layout spans three distinct levels, each structured to accommodate specific operational, technical, and social needs during a grand prix weekend. The ground floor serves as an adaptable gathering space, featuring a digital entrance and flexible layout options that bring guests, partners, and media directly into the racing team's energy. At the core of the building, a central staircase connects the ground floor to the upper levels. Named the Climb of Champions, the staircase functions as a psychological transition point featuring quotes from team founder Bruce McLaren, encouraging occupants to adopt a championship mindset as they move through the facility. The first floor accommodates dedicated driver areas and private meeting spaces engineered to provide quiet headspace or facilitate structured sponsor meetings. Above this, the top floor contains a dedicated hospitality space designed for guest engagement and narrative storytelling, highlighting McLaren's technical history and ongoing developments. Inside the Garage. Alongside the Team Hub, Landor created an updated Garage experience designed to give VIP visitors direct insight into pit lane operations without disrupting essential garage workflows. Recognising that critical emotional intensity occurs behind the scenes during race sessions, the design focuses on bringing visitors closer to live decision-making. At the entrance to the Garage, large-scale digital screens showcase data feeds alongside the wider network of personnel and technical partners contributing to vehicle setup. Guests proceed through a redesigned acoustic tunnel into the main garage space, arriving at a custom Race Watch area. Featuring a tiered seating arrangement and integrated monitor displays, this area provides visitors with an unobstructed view of both the track action and live engineering discussions on the pit wall. Engineering and execution. To meet the practical logistics of transport and rapid setup required by Formula One, Landor collaborated with specialist build partners Bischoff + Scheck, Quentor, and Live Wire Production. The structure was constructed using progressive, low-impact materials to limit its overall environmental footprint while remaining durable enough to withstand continuous assembly across long-haul flight schedules and European road haulage. Holly Tasker, senior designer at Landor, said, "Just like the cars on the track, every detail of the Team Hub was engineered for peak performance. By using progressive, sustainable materials, we minimised the physical and environmental footprint of the structure while maximising its visual impact. It stands as a physical representation of what can be achieved when creative design, sustainable thinking, and collaborative engineering come together." Graham Sykes, global executive creative director at Landor, said, "At Landor, we noticed the incredible emotional energy that defines this team. As with all of our projects, we sought to bring that emotion to life in a way visitors could feel firsthand. By designing spaces that foster a true sense of belonging and channel the sheer exhilaration of McLaren, we've created a home where guests don't just visit the McLaren team, they become part of the family."
