About the job

Requirements
  • Fluent English is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in business development or new-logo sales, with a proven record of closing net-new enterprise accounts rather than only managing existing portfolios.
  • Deep knowledge of the payments landscape, including processing flows, card schemes, local alternative payment methods, chargeback and fraud dynamics, and differences across emerging markets.
  • Experience running long, complex sales cycles involving multi-department approvals, multi-country regulatory and tax considerations, and displacing an incumbent provider.
  • Ability to work independently on greenfield accounts, build relationships from zero, develop a commercial thesis, and drive deals to close without a warm handoff.
  • Experience owning merchant accounts after signing, including integration, ramp, and early upsell.
  • Ability to use data to prioritize a pipeline, build business cases, and challenge assumptions internally and externally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Flexibility to overlap with colleagues and merchants in other time zones when deals require it.
  • Ability to open new accounts and build pipeline from scratch while applying a thoughtful multi-stakeholder strategy to large, multi-country, multi-year deals.
  • Ability to overcome legal bandwidth constraints, onboarding friction, business-case review loops, and tax questions by escalating or restructuring the commercial approach as appropriate.
  • Ability to develop a business case for an APAC merchant's expansion into a specific emerging market and prospect destinations where the merchant is early in its expansion journey.
  • Depth in at least two digital-first verticals, including understanding their business models, unit economics, seasonal dynamics, and payment complexity.
  • Ability to remain productive and maintain deal momentum through uncertainty, delays, and changing merchant priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a clear, transparent view of deal status and next steps.
  • Ability to track integration timelines and volume ramp after signing, identify initial expansion opportunities, and flag accounts that are not converting.
  • Ability to collaborate and share commercial intelligence with colleagues who support one another's accounts.
Responsibilities
  • Build a new merchant pipeline from the ground up across high-growth digital verticals, focusing on APAC companies seeking to expand into emerging markets.
  • Run the full deal cycle from initial outreach through qualification, negotiation, and signed contract, maintaining disciplined pipeline management.
  • Navigate complex merchant organizations by engaging regional headquarters, country business teams, legal, finance, and treasury stakeholders; map stakeholders, identify champions, and keep conversations progressing.
  • Own the strategy for multi-country opportunities, including phased launches, and partner with legal, tax, compliance, and product experts to unblock deals and shape solutions for merchants.
  • Work with EBANX teams globally to bring local expertise into deals and connect merchant headquarters with relevant local teams.
  • Maintain a clear, up-to-date view of the pipeline and communicate each opportunity's status and next steps.
  • Continue supporting merchants after signing through integration, ramp-up, and early expansion opportunities involving new markets, payment methods, and products.
Desired Qualifications
  • An additional Asian language, such as Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Malay, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, or similar.
  • Experience living or working across APAC markets.
