Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Eligibility for specialist certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Current Advanced Trauma Life Support certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care and secondary and tertiary level health care.
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Provide hospital and call support for the Intensive Care Unit and Internal Medicine as required.
  • Provide Most Responsible Physician coverage for the Intensive Care Unit and monitored beds.
  • Look after Intensive Care Unit beds in a closed unit.
  • Participate in outpatient care appropriate to the specialty.
  • Provide advice and counsel to nearby rural hospitals.
  • Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities.
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work a 1.0 FTE schedule with shared call required among the group.
