Alpinestars unveils the 2027 ALL TERRA collection.

Alpinestars unveils the 2027 ALL TERRA collection. Last updated: October 1, 2026 2:55 pm Alpinestars unveils the 2027 ALL TERRA collection: A new generation of all-weather adventure gear for on-road and off-road exploration. Alpinestars advances its 2027 All Terra Collection with a new generation of all-weather protective gear engineered to give touring and adventure riders the protection, adaptability, and comfort to explore further across changing terrain, long-distance journeys, and technical off-road riding. Adventure riding can take riders through dramatic changes in elevation, terrain, temperature, and weather within a single day. Conditions can shift from cold and rain to heat and sun, from long highway stretches to demanding off-road terrain. The gear has to adapt with the ride. Built on decades of adventure riding development and extensive real-world testing with riders across thousands of kilometers and some of the world's most demanding terrain and conditions, the 2027 All Terra Collection is engineered for the changing demands of adventure riding. Highly adaptable constructions, laminated GORE-TEX and modular Drystar(R) waterproofing, direct ventilation, thermal insulation, and technical base layers work together to manage weather, airflow, moisture, and temperature, helping riders maintain comfort across long distances and changing conditions. - Advertisement - Amazon.co.uk Welcome to modern classic motorcycle news - kindle edition. At the center of the collection are three new all-weather adventure jacket-and-pants combinations: the highly adaptable Harok V2 Drystar(R) Jacket and Pants, the exploration-focused Arenis GORE-TEX Jacket and Pants, and the lightweight ST-7 V2 2L GORE-TEX Jacket and Pants, also available in dedicated Stella versions. Each brings a distinct approach to all-weather adventure riding, from highly modular construction and laminated GORE-TEX performance to lightweight all-weather touring. The range expands further with the dual-sport Maxdura Drystar(R) XF Laminated Pants, an expanded All Terra glove range, the new Tech 7 Enduro GORE-TEX Boots and CR-X GORE-TEX Shoes, and the introduction of A-Morph Technology within the All Terra Dual Sport protection range. The collection is completed by the AT 8 Merino Base Layer Collection, AT-9 Backpacks, and Buff(R) Peaks PrimaLoft(R) Neckwear, extending All Terra protection and performance across the gear, technical layers, and accessories that support the ride. TESTED IN THE HIMALAYAS Alpinestars took the 2027 All Terra Collection to the Himalayas, bringing together All Terra ambassadors Adam Riemann, Alexandra Reynolds, Jamie Robinson, Satya Oblette, and Tom Barrer to put the new gear to the test across one of adventure riding's most demanding landscapes. From high-altitude mountain passes and dusty valleys to heat, cold, and snow, the riders tested the collection across dramatic shifts in terrain, temperature, and weather - experiencing firsthand how the gear adapts as riding conditions change. Here's what the adventure riders have to say about the new 2027 All Terra line. "I love the evolution of the All Terra gear. The Arenis Jacket and Pants are a great fit for exploring hard terrain like we rode in the Himalayas. I love that they have enduro styling and ventilation, combined with that more durable, weatherproof construction for the big highway miles. This will be the perfect winter hard adventure kit for me in Australia." - Adam Riemann - Advertisement -

Stark VARG SM Sköll silently breaks a record that stood since 2012.

Stark VARG SM Sköll silently breaks a record that stood since 2012. September 21, 2026 An electric supermoto has lapped the abandoned 1923 banked oval at Terramar faster than an Audi R8 LMS ever did: 41.888 seconds. Built in just 300 days in 1923, the concrete oval at Autòdrom de Sitges-Terramar hosted racing for barely a year before being left to nature for a century. On 10 September 2026, the timing systems were switched on again, and the machine that set the fastest mark did so in complete silence. On Thursday 10 September, Stark Future rider Jonas Skovby lapped the two-kilometer oval in 41.888 seconds on a Stark VARG SM Sköll. That beats the 42.600 set by Carlos Sainz in an Audi R8 LMS in 2012, a margin of 0.712 seconds. The bike is a road-legal production motorcycle with no gearbox, no clutch and no exhaust. The attempt was a joint project between Stark Future, Alpinestars and DC Shoes. It was staged under permit, following a process with the circuit's owners and local authorities that took the better part of a year. Terramar is among the oldest purpose-built banked ovals still standing, and one of the least used. It has been effectively abandoned since the 1920s and is now earmarked for redevelopment. The record that stood. Terramar opened on 28 October 1923 as Spain's first permanent racing circuit. The banking is steep enough to be awkward to walk up. Albert Divo won the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix there in a Sunbeam at an average of 96.91 mph, ahead of Louis Zborowski's Miller. The builders almost immediately ran out of money, contractors went unpaid, and the circuit never hosted another international race. In 2012, Red Bull returned. Two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz lapped the oval in an Audi R8 LMS in 42.600 seconds. That time stood for fourteen years, and it was the one Stark came to beat. The lap. Over a two-kilometer lap, 41.888 seconds works out to an average of a little over 172 km/h. That was achieved on concrete that has not been resurfaced in a century and has endured a hundred years of weather. The bike was the Stark VARG SM Sköll, the 500-unit limited edition announced on 16 September. In full ALPHA specification it produces 80 hp and 914 Nm at the rear wheel, with single-speed drive and a weight of 123.4 kg (272 lb). It ran straight out of the box. The single-speed drivetrain is an unusual advantage on a circuit like this. With no shifting there is no interruption: the bike simply builds and holds its speed. What it gives up is top speed, but on a two-kilometer oval the stopwatch seems willing to accept that trade. The rider. Jonas Skovby rode the record lap. The Swedish Supermoto champion and freestyle rider moved from competitive track racing into a career as a world-renowned urban street riding content creator. "Slamming through a century-old track at 200 km/h means you are constantly on the edge, either about to be launched off a concrete wall or losing the front tire by a hair," Skovby said. "With zero time to react or fix a mistake at those speeds, all I could do was completely trust the bike. It was an absolutely insane adrenaline rush and easily the wildest thing I have ever done."

Airbag systems given the nod for motocross by FIM, on the radar for New Zealand.

Airbag systems given the nod for motocross by FIM, on the radar for New Zealand. Following the success of the various airbag systems in road racing, FIM's Motocross Permanent Bureau, composed of FIM President Jorge Viegas and Infront Moto Racing President and CEO David Luongo have made the decision to bring this safety technology to FIM MXGP, MX2, Women's World Championships and the FIM Motocross of Nations. With proven results in improving rider safety in road racing this new technology represents a step forward for riders across the gamut of action sport. Airbag and air vests have already been embraced by downhill mountain biking, and are already in use in motocross through early adopters of the technology, which is already available in the New Zealand market. "Airbag systems are now well established in road racing and from 1 January 2027 they will be compulsory in selected New Zealand Championship road racing classes," offers Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ) Operations Manager Vicky Hicks. "The FIM's decision to introduce airbag technology into Motocross World Championship competition is another significant step forward in the development of protective equipment and rider safety. While these requirements do not currently apply to MNZ motocross events, there is nothing preventing riders in New Zealand from choosing to use approved airbag systems now if they wish to do so." This new ruling reads as follows: 01.65 equipment and protective clothing during practice and Race. 65.01 clothing and protectors. For FIM MXGP/ MX2/ Women's World Championships and FIM Motocross of Nations: from 2027: the use of a functional/operational airbag system is highly recommended from 2028: the use of a functional/operational airbag system is compulsory. The airbag system must be either: - a FIM Homologated Airbag Off-road (FRHPab-01)* or - one of the Airbag systems declared compliant with FIM Category 3 (Motocross) listed HERE. The equipment must be worn, correctly fastened, at all times during on-track activity (the airbag must be functional/operational at least at the start of each track session). The decision of the FIM Technical Director is final in matters of rider equipment. *To be published by the end of 2026. Alpinestars' Tech-Air MX Airbag system first launched in 2024, building upon the brand's extensive research that first started back in 2003 in MotoGP. It took six years of R&D before Tech-Air Race was introduced to MotoGP in 2009. In 2014 Alpinestars began testing an off-road version destined for Dakar and off-road motorcycle racing, which came to life in 2019. Motocross and supercross data acquisition began in 2016. This data helps to identify the difference between a hard impact during normal racing, such as ruts, braking bumps and heavy landings, and the dynamics of a crash scenario. That complicated algorithm is partly why the vest took so long to arrive in motocross. While Alpinestars has set the standard for motocross other brands like RST and Dainese are expected to offer solutions in the future, to match their current road racing offerings. "Motorcycling New Zealand actively embraces technology that improves rider safety and will be considering how airbag systems may be incorporated into competition in New Zealand in the future," added Hicks.

TECH-AIR MX System with dedicated MTB Downhill Algorithm.

TECH-AIR MX System with dedicated MTB Downhill Algorithm. August 27, 2026 Building on 26 years of experience in airbag technology, Alpinestars introduces the MTB Downhill Algorithm to the Tech-Air(R) MX Airbag System, a groundbreaking addition to its protective mountain biking lineup. Initially developed and tested in pre-production form by Alpinestars professional athletes, Tech-Air(R) MX is now available with a dedicated Downhill Algorithm, downloadable through the Tech-Air(R) App. Designed specifically around the demands of modern downhill mountain biking, the algorithm is engineered to recognize the unique dynamics of high-speed descents, technical terrain, and loss-of-control events. Upon the detection of an MTB Downhill crash situation, the System will automatically deploy a protective Airbag, providing upper body protection to the rider. DOWNHILL RIDING MODE: DEVELOPED FOR THE DEMANDS OF MTB Downhill mountain biking presents a unique set of challenges. Riders tackle steep, gravity-assisted descents at high speeds, navigating berms, drops, jumps, bumps, and rapidly changing terrain that can include loose gravel, rocks, and mud across woodland and open-country trails. Unlike motocross, where higher speeds and greater acceleration and braking forces are typical, downhill riding is characterized by frequent changes in rider body position, varied terrain features, and lower overall vehicle mass and operating speeds. Crashes are often initiated by a loss of rider control or terrain-induced instability, followed by direct impacts with the ground or surrounding obstacles. The Tech-Air(R) MX MTB Downhill Algorithm has been specifically optimized to recognize these conditions, detecting loss of rider control, terrain-induced instability, and impact scenarios associated with downhill crashes. TECH-AIR(R) MX WITH MTB DOWNHILL ALGORITHM AIRBAG SYSTEM Alpinestars has been pioneering electronic airbag protection in motorcycle racing for more than two decades. The Tech-Air(R) Race System was introduced to MotoGP in 2009, building on extensive road-racing data collected since 2003. Continuous development, supported by data gathered from Alpinestars' global roster of professional racers, has driven the evolution of Tech-Air(R) technology. The Tech-Air(R) Off-Road System has similarly established a benchmark for protection in extreme off-road competition, including at the Dakar Rally since 2019, supported by data collected from World Rally Championship racers since 2014. For the Tech-Air(R) MX with the MTB Downhill Algorithm, Alpinestars has applied the same rigorous data-driven R&D approach to mountain biking. Development has been supported by data collected from professional athletes since 2022, helping engineers create a sophisticated crash-detection algorithm tailored to the dynamic and unpredictable conditions of downhill riding. The result is a compact chest protector incorporating a fully autonomous Airbag System, designed to be integrated seamlessly into a rider's standard kit and worn either over or under compatible equipment. Activation is simple. Attaching the left buckle to the chest protector closes an internal magnetic switch, automatically activating the Airbag System. Detaching the buckle automatically switches the System off. ADVANCED SENSOR TECHNOLOGY AND CRASH DETECTION The Tech-Air(R) MX with the MTB Downhill Algorithm is a fully autonomous Airbag System equipped with six integrated sensors, including a tri-axial accelerometer and tri-axial gyroscope. The sensors continuously monitor rider movements in real time, transmitting data to the System's control unit hundreds of times per second. Developed using thousands of hours of riding and crash data, the System's sophisticated algorithms analyze rider movement and identify crash events, enabling rapid deployment before impact or during a dangerous riding event. When a crash is detected, the Airbag System deploys in approximately 32-45 milliseconds, depending on the size of the chest protector. Once inflated, the airbag delivers impact absorption equivalent to up to an 82% reduction in transmitted energy compared with conventional passive chest protectors. The airbag also extends protection into the shoulder zones during deployment. Because these areas contain no passive protection elements in the normal riding configuration, riders retain a full range of motion and unrestricted movement during normal riding. In a crash, rapid deployment provides extensive coverage across the shoulders, chest, and back. CUSTOMIZABLE RIDING MODES The Tech-Air(R) MX System comes preloaded with a dedicated MX Mode optimized for motocross tracks. Additionally, it offers two customizable modes - MY RIDE 1 and MY RIDE 2 - configurable via the Tech-Air(R) App. Riders can select from five Riding Modes tailored to specific disciplines: the default MX Mode, MX RACE, ENDURO, RALLY, and the new DOWNHILL MTB Riding Mode, each with an algorithm fine-tuned for crash detection in varied conditions. Riding Modes can be switched effortlessly using the LED display button or the Tech-Air(R) App, providing flexibility for different riding scenarios. QUICK AND EASY GAS INFLATOR REPLACEMENT The System features a quick-release cover designed to simplify gas inflator replacement. The System is certified for up to six deployments before servicing is required, provided the airbag itself has not sustained damage. LONG BATTERY LIFE The Tech-Air(R) MX System with the MTB Downhill Algorithm is powered by an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery. * Battery life: Up to 30 hours on a full charge. * Recharge time: Approximately 4 hours. * 1-hour charge: Approximately 8 hours of riding time. With its combination of rapid crash detection, autonomous deployment, extensive upper-body coverage, and a dedicated MTB Downhill Algorithm, this Airbag System brings Alpinestars' proven airbag technology to the unique demands of downhill mountain biking. TECH-AIR(R) APP AND SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATES Bluetooth connectivity enables seamless software updates via the Tech-Air(R) App, which also allows riders to monitor System status, battery life, and ride data through an enhanced Google Maps integration (subject to network coverage). A fully charged battery supports approximately 30 hours of active ride time, with an integrated LED display showing operational status, battery life, and selected Riding Mode. SUPERIOR PROTECTION The Tech-Air(R) MX provides CE L1 passive protection for the chest and back, with CE L1 active protection on the back when the airbag is deployed. Certified to Category II of the 686/89/EEC European PPE Directive and EN1621-4:2013, the System guarantees impact protection within 40 milliseconds to 5 seconds of full-pressure inflation, covering the rider's shoulders, chest, and back. AVAILABILITY The Tech-Air(R) MX Airbag System with the new MTB Downhill algorithm launches on August 26, 2026 in Europe - available online at alpinestars.com and at authorized Alpinestars dealers in the coming weeks. The System will be available in the United States by the end of the year.
