  • A Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.
  • Board Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification is required.
  • A current New Jersey Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant License is required.
Responsibilities
  • Practice autonomously and/or in consultation with a collaborating or supervising physician and other health care professionals to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' health problems and needs.
  • Perform patient history and physical examinations to determine a working differential diagnosis and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Order, perform, supervise, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, and prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Provide therapeutic measures as appropriate and provide teaching, education, and counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
  • For uncommon or unstable conditions, formulate diagnoses in consultation with a collaborating or supervising physician and either refer to a specialist or participate in dual management and treatment.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses while emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Serve as health care researchers, professional educators, interdisciplinary consultants, and patient advocates.
  • Prescribe medications where clinically indicated in accordance with current advanced practice provider prescribing guidelines and state and federal law, with proper documentation in the patient's chart.
  • Complete required continuing education mandated by certifying organizations and provide evidence-based medical practice.
  • Maintain accountability for health care outcomes and support quality of care through national certification, periodic peer review, and clinical outcome practices.
