Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration.
  • Three to five years of financial experience in the health care field.
  • Thorough knowledge of credit financing, third-party billing requirements, regulatory agencies, and current regulations affecting financial services.
  • Working knowledge of computer science applications.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to move about the clinics between workstations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and supervision where required in the day-to-day fiscal operations of the Neighborhood Health Association.
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing all fiscal matters and act on behalf of the Chief Financial Officer during the Chief Financial Officer's absence.
  • Lead departments by providing a vision for their future direction and supporting the change process.
  • Coach and facilitate the growth and development of associates within the departments.
  • Develop departmental goals that support clinic initiatives, guide daily activity, communicate ongoing processes, and remove obstacles to performance effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement for key departmental and organizational systems and develop an environment for success through team participation.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the finance department, including workflow, staffing, scheduling, performance management, and professional development of assigned staff.
  • Direct audit, billing, cashiering, collection, financial counseling, and accounts payable functions through subordinate personnel.
  • Prepare the accounts receivable report for the finance committee of the Board of Trustees and review it with the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Assist in forecasting current- and future-year bad debt for cash management and monitor the reserve for doubtful accounts, including annual clinic audits.
  • Manage billing and collection of revenue generated by patient charges and non-patient revenue related to Neighborhood Health Association operations and physician revenue related to clinic business.
  • Assist in preparing, directing, and monitoring annual divisional and departmental budgets.
  • Provide input on programs that enhance collection of receivables and promote positive public relations related to Neighborhood Health Association patients.
  • Develop, direct, and maintain quantitative quality-standard objectives for areas reporting under financial services.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, general-ledger account reconciliations, and preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Support annual audits, grant reporting, and cost-reporting requirements by preparing requested schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of the clinic's accounts receivable and billing systems and make procedural adjustments to incorporate system changes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state collection laws and regulations and modify operations and policies accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain department operations to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement appropriate new technology to improve financial services.
  • Perform and monitor other Neighborhood Health Association financial functions assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
