Requirements
  • Ability to understand and apply local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements to assigned construction projects.
  • Strong communication, language, and software skills, including the ability to use software tools to monitor, update, and produce work products.
  • Working knowledge of construction practices and the ability to support project plans involving quality assurance, safety, schedule, cost, and change and information management.
  • Familiarity with general contractor and subcontractor site operations and building construction workflows.
  • Experience monitoring construction activities for quality assurance.
  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and identifying deficiencies or inconsistencies in contractor work relative to construction documents.
  • Ability to support documentation and administrative requirements for construction activities in an active healthcare environment.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training, VA Cyber Security Awareness Training, VA Privacy Awareness Training, and required VA information-technology training for VA systems such as TRIRIGA.
  • At least three years of construction-related experience may substitute for the education requirement and is subject to acceptability review.
  • Ability to see, hear, walk, drive, climb, reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in construction-site conditions including noise, dust, heights, odors, enclosed spaces, unstable footing, stairs, rough terrain, adverse weather, ladders, and roofs.
  • Physical ability to traverse construction sites, take measurements, perform tests comparing in-place work to contract requirements, and observe work activities throughout construction.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and ability to pass a federal background check.
Responsibilities
  • Provide construction administration and oversight support for projects at an active medical facility.
  • Support administration, oversight, and evaluation involving multiple construction disciplines.
  • Assist with project management activities, including planning, scheduling, constructability reviews, code compliance, testing, record keeping, quality control, cost control, and general oversight.
  • Conduct site inspections, prepare daily logs, and document work progress, quality issues, and compliance.
  • Assist with submittal reviews, requests for information, progress meetings, contractor pay application reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Determine documentation and coordination needs based on engineering and construction risk assessments that could impact patient care or facility operations.
