About the Company

REI

Outdoor gear retailer and co-op

REI is an outdoor co-op that sells top-quality gear and apparel, offers rental equipment, and provides expert advice and outdoor experiences to help people enjoy nature. Its products work by organizing and selling outdoor gear and services—gear, clothing, rentals, and guidance—so customers can plan, equip, and participate in outdoor activities. REI differentiates itself from competitors by operating as a shareholder-free co-op focused on stewardship and sustainability, reinvesting proceeds to support the outdoors rather than paying dividends. It also builds a community through its stories, experiences, and expert advice aimed at helping people of all levels get outside. The company’s goal is to inspire and enable life outside for everyone and to awaken a lifelong love of the outdoors for all.
