Adyen appoints Nicole Olbe EMEA President.

Adyen appoints Nicole Olbe EMEA President. Adyen has appointed Nicole Olbe as EMEA President, effective September 1, expanding her leadership remit after three years as the financial technology company's UK Managing Director. After three years leading Adyen's UK business, Nicole Olbe is stepping into a broader regional leadership role as President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, effective September 1, 2026. Olbe will succeed Alexa von Bismarck, who is moving to San Francisco to become Adyen's Senior Vice President of Global Account Management. A transition period is underway to support the handover across regional operations. The appointment expands Olbe's responsibilities considerably. As EMEA President, she will be accountable for the region's performance and continued growth, with a mandate spanning commercial execution, cross-functional strategy and operational alignment. Adyen said its existing organisational structure across EMEA will remain unchanged. Olbe brings more than 20 years of experience in global payments and FinTech. Before joining Adyen, she held senior leadership positions across merchant acquiring, payment acceptance and strategic partnerships at Barclaycard and Verifone. Roelant Prins, Chief Commercial Officer at Adyen, highlighted Olbe's global payments experience and inclusive, team-first leadership approach, saying her ability to connect regional requirements with the company's wider commercial strategy would be valuable as the business expands. For Olbe, the new position builds on leadership experience already developed within Adyen. She will remain based in the company's London office, while maintaining a regular operational presence across its EMEA locations. Her September appointment brings an experienced internal leader to the regional presidency while von Bismarck moves into an expanded global role, creating leadership continuity across both EMEA and Adyen's wider account management organisation.

Adyen promotes Nicole Olbe to EMEA president.

Adyen promotes Nicole Olbe to EMEA president. The appointment is part of a broader leadership reshuffle at Adyen, which includes Olbe's predecessor Alexa von Bismarck moving to a US-based role and Gayathri Rajan becoming chief product officer. August 20, 2026 Dutch paytech Adyen has promoted UK and Ireland managing director Nicole Olbe to president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), effective 1 September 2026. Stationed in London, Olbe will now oversee all regional functions, including commercial execution, strengthening operations, and developing regional strategies in line with Adyen's wider initiatives. She will succeed Alexa von Bismarck, who has relocated from Germany to the US to serve as senior vice president of global account management. Commenting on the leadership reshuffle, Adyen explains that the EMEA team's organisational structure will remain unchanged, adding that "the transition period allows for a structured handover across regional operations". Olbe has spent the last three years at Adyen. She joined the company from Barclaycard, where she spent eight years in director and managing director roles primarily focused on payment integration and partnerships. Prior to this, Olbe held various leadership roles at The Logic Group, Discover Financial Services, and VeriFone UK. Olbe becomes the latest internal appointment as Adyen restructures its leadership teams amid what it described last month as a "critical operational period". The paytech made this statement following its recent acquisitions of Talon. One and Orb, and the subsequent appointments that were made. These include the promotion of global head of product Gayathri Rajan as chief product officer. Adyen also revealed that SVP of group finance, Hwa Tsao, would assume the role of interim chief financial officer on 1 September. Adyen secures OpenAI as a payments customer; H1 2026 net revenue up 21% year over year. 2026-08-13 19:00:19 Key takeaways. * Adyen disclosed OpenAI as dual partner and direct payment processing customer on August 13. * Adyen's H1 2026 net revenue grew 21% to €1.3 billion with 49% EBITDA margin. * Adyen raised 2026 capital expenditure guidance to 7% of net revenue to secure computing resources. During Adyen (ADYYF)'s Aug. 13 earnings call, management disclosed that OpenAI has a dual relationship with Adyen, serving both as a partner for Adyen Agentic and as a direct customer for payment processing. H1 2026 net revenue rose 21% year over year to €1.3 billion on a constant-currency basis, with an EBITDA margin of 49% and processed volume of €804 billion. H1 2026 core financial data: €1.3 billion in net revenue, €642 million in EBITDA. The core financial data disclosed during Adyen's H1 2026 earnings call are as follows: Net revenue: €1.3 billion, up 21% year over year on a constant-currency basis and 19% at reported exchange rates EBITDA: €642 million, up 18% year over year, with an EBITDA margin of 49% (50% excluding one-time acquisition integration costs) Processed volume: €804 billion Capital expenditures: €64 million in H1 (5% of net revenue); expected to account for approximately 7% of net revenue for the full year Headcount: Added 249 employees in H1, bringing total full-time employees to 5,020; full-year target of adding 550 to 650 employees Full-year 2026 outlook: Constant-currency net revenue growth of 21% to 23%; due to acquisition dilution, the EBITDA margin is expected to decline by approximately 1 percentage point from 2025. Talon. One and Orb integration progress. Co-CEO Pieter van der Does said on the earnings call that the integration of Talon. One and Orb is slightly ahead of expectations, characterizing the integration as growth-oriented rather than aimed at cost reduction. He noted that customer demand for loyalty programs and usage-based billing is high, particularly in the AI agent economy, where merchants have a strong incentive to avoid being bypassed. Existing customers using both Talon. One and Adyen have responded positively to the combined capabilities, while richer integrated datasets have enabled more sophisticated solutions. Regarding Orb, van der Does explained that by integrating billing and payment functions, Orb helps Adyen establish partnerships with AI-native companies earlier, making it a logical choice for companies that need to focus their resources on product development. Wallet share growth data and the background to slower EMEA growth. Interim CFO Hwa Tsao disclosed on the earnings call that Adyen's wallet share among merchants shows a clear long-term growth pattern: during years 3 through 7 of the customer relationship, Adyen's wallet share is below 20%; after year 12, it exceeds 40%. The top 300 customers contribute 60% of revenue, and wallet share growth spans a diversified customer base rather than being concentrated in a specific region. Net revenue growth in the EMEA region slowed from 26% a year ago to 15%. Hwa Tsao explained that most of Adyen's EMEA customers are merchants selling products globally, so business volume may shift to other markets; management does not view EMEA as a saturated market. Co-CEO Pieter van der Does explained on the earnings call that OpenAI's relationship with Adyen is dual in nature: OpenAI is both a partner for Adyen's Agentic capabilities and a direct customer of its payment processing services. He noted that the largest companies continue to choose Adyen, adding that this trend is ongoing. Front-Loading 2026 capital expenditures and the 2028 EBITDA margin target. Interim CFO Hwa Tsao explained that raising the expected level of 2026 capital expenditures to approximately 7% of net revenue was an intentional decision designed to bring some 2027 spending forward into 2026, ensuring the availability of computing and storage resources and locking in prices amid unprecedentedly high demand. van der Does added that Adyen took similar measures in 2022, after which capital expenditures returned to historical levels. Management expects capital expenditures to likewise return to historical levels after 2026. Regarding the long-term target for 2028, management maintained its goal of an EBITDA margin above 55% on the earnings call. Hwa Tsao explained that investments related to AI tools have been incorporated into the overall performance guidance, while Adyen's private-cloud architecture is more efficient than those of its competitors and favored by merchants that prefer independent providers. Frequently asked questions. What is the nature of OpenAI's relationship with Adyen? According to Co-CEO Pieter van der Does's explanation on the earnings call, OpenAI's relationship with Adyen is dual in nature: OpenAI is both a partner for Adyen's Agentic capabilities and a direct customer of its payment processing services. What is the long-term growth pattern of Adyen's wallet share? According to data disclosed by Interim CFO Hwa Tsao on the earnings call, Adyen's wallet share among customers is below 20% during years 3 through 7 and exceeds 40% after year 12; the top 300 customers contribute 60% of revenue, with growth distributed across a diversified customer base. Why did Adyen raise its 2026 capital expenditure expectations? Interim CFO Hwa Tsao explained that raising 2026 capital expenditures to approximately 7% of net revenue was an intentional decision to bring some 2027 spending forward into 2026, with the aim of securing the availability and pricing of computing and storage resources amid high demand; management expects capital expenditures to return to historical levels after 2026. Adyen warns AI shopping bots threaten merchant loyalty, buys retention tools

AI chatbots handling consumer shopping are pushing merchants to strengthen direct customer relationships, payments firm Adyen said on Thursday. AI-driven shopping assistants could recommend products, choose merchants and initiate payments independently, potentially eroding retailers' direct connections with customers. Adyen co-CEO Pieter van der Does said one merchant generated 70% of its volume through direct channels and wanted to maintain that share as shoppers increasingly use chatbots. "Loyalty becomes way more important," he stated. Adyen, which processes payments for Hermès and Hugo Boss, has launched a platform for enterprise merchants and AI-agent payments. The company recently acquired loyalty software firm Talon. One and billing provider Orb to strengthen retention-focused services. JPMorgan analysts noted Adyen's signing of OpenAI as a positive development.
