Requirements
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a four-year university or college in Engineering, Engineering Management or Technology, Industrial Distribution or Technology, Automation Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant degree program at the time of application and throughout the program.
  • Must have completed 30 semester hours before the start of the internship.
  • Transfer students must have completed 12 semester hours at a four-year university.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 out of 4.0, without rounding, at the current institution.
  • Must be able to relocate to the indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete the daily work commute using reliable transportation.
  • Must demonstrate analytical skills, initiative, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Must be able to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly gain and effectively apply new skills and knowledge.
  • Must be able to collaborate with people of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must attach a resume and an unofficial copy of the transcript to the application.
Responsibilities
  • Work alongside manufacturing professionals on project assignments within the assigned team.
  • Develop business skills through team and business-partner interactions, conduct presentations, and measure success through the performance and evaluation process.
  • Work on diverse manufacturing project responsibilities during a 40-hour-per-week, 12-week internship assignment.
  • Enhance and modify equipment and processes, monitor equipment and process reliability, identify and address problem areas, and provide engineering support for equipment, processes, or facilities.
  • Analyze non-conformance data and maintain quality system documentation.
  • Participate in and provide technical support for internal and external audits, and follow up on corrective-action responses from audits.
  • Interact with manufacturing team members to determine the root causes of quality issues and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Collect and research customer-experience data related to robotic platforms.
  • Document architecture specifications, software design descriptions, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
  • Use appropriate tools to debug, test, and maintain software and hardware systems for robotic tools.
  • Assist with verification and validation processes.
  • Participate in the design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms.
