About the job

Requirements
  • Have built and shipped something impressive, demonstrated by at least one strong signal such as writing firmware for 1,000 or more devices, building a product used by 1 million or more people, generating more than $1 million in revenue, raising more than $1 million as a founder or solo builder, or being deeply technical and able to work quickly.
  • Prior accomplishments need not meet every listed example; one strong signal is sufficient.
Responsibilities
  • Own firmware for Omi devices.
  • Modify other devices to integrate them with the Omi ecosystem, including Apple Watch and Meta glasses.
  • Help shape product direction, the technical stack, and company culture.
  • Work directly with the founder to build and launch products.

About the company

Omi AI makes a wearable AI assistant called the Omi that acts as a personal helper and ā€œsecond brainā€ by capturing and transcribing conversations, taking notes, and organizing tasks. It works via a wearable device with a companion app on iOS and Android and supports third-party apps through open-source software. It differentiates itself through openness and a focus on emotional support in a wearable, beyond typical closed AI assistants. Its goal is to help users stay organized and productive with practical tools and emotional support, while growing an app ecosystem around an open AI platform.

What believers are saying

  • Omi reportedly raised $3 million in July 2026 from Tim Draper and Dropbox Ventures.
  • Omi says it shipped 25,000-plus devices and expanded into India in 2026.
  • Firmware now lasts three days, and Unlimited users can place transcribed phone calls.

What critics are saying

  • Always-on recording fuels consent backlash; one privacy scandal kills consumer adoption fast.
  • Plaud, Limitless, and Apple target the same workflow with bigger distribution.
  • If app monetization stalls, Omi becomes commodity hardware with brutal margins.

What makes Omi AI unique

  • Open-source Omi pairs $89 hardware with an app store of hundreds of tools.
  • Omi stores transcripts, summaries, tasks, and memories across phone, desktop, and wearables.
  • Omi supports API, MCP, local storage, and cloud controls for developers.

Omi AI raises funding to build ambient wearable assistant, launches in India for ₹15K–₹25K

Omi AI, a wearable AI assistant founded by entrepreneur Nik Shevchenko, has raised venture capital to build an ambient intelligence device that continuously listens to conversations and generates productivity insights without manual input. The compact wearable captures audio and processes it through cloud-based AI to produce meeting summaries, memory recall, task tracking and contextual insights. Unlike traditional voice assistants, Omi operates passively without wake words or commands, building a contextual memory layer over time. The device is expected to cost between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000 in India, though official localised pricing has not been announced. Availability remains limited to online purchases and early-access programmes. Whilst praised for its hands-free productivity features, the device faces privacy concerns due to continuous listening and requires cloud connectivity to function.
