  • Represent the needs of enterprise buyers, IT administrators, security teams, business leaders, developers, and end users in product and technical decisions.
  • Identify adoption barriers, competitive gaps, and opportunities to make products easier for organizations to evaluate, purchase, deploy, manage, and scale.
  • Balance near-term customer needs and delivery commitments with long-term platform direction, technical quality, and responsible deployment.
  • Coordinate enterprise launch readiness, including security and operational requirements, customer-facing dependencies, escalation paths, and post-launch follow-through.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Security, Safety, Legal, Design, and GTM, with clear ownership, milestones, sequencing, and decision-making.
  • Work directly with enterprise customers, design partners, and customer-facing teams to identify high-value workflows, understand deployment friction, and turn recurring customer needs into scalable product and platform improvements.
  • Define success through measurable improvements in enterprise activation, workflow quality, production readiness, sustained adoption, customer trust, and business impact.
  • Improve execution through practical operating mechanisms, scalable tooling, and data- or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Communicate program health, technical risks, recommendations, and consequential tradeoffs clearly to engineering teams and senior leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading enterprise software launches involving security, identity, compliance, or deployment readiness.

About the company

OpenAI researches and builds artificial intelligence models and turns them into products for people, developers, and businesses, with a stated mission of making sure artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. Its launch of ChatGPT in 2022 brought generative AI into everyday use. People use ChatGPT to ask questions, write, code, and analyze files, developers build OpenAI's models into their own apps through its API, and its Codex agent works through coding tasks on its own. OpenAI earns money from ChatGPT subscriptions, business plans, and API usage. Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and others co-founded it in 2015; it is based in San Francisco and overseen by a nonprofit, the OpenAI Foundation.

What believers are saying

  • Sales are compounding: OpenAI's yearly revenue pace doubled from $24 billion in March 2026 to nearly $50 billion in September.
  • Equity turns into cash regularly: staff sold $7 billion of shares in August 2026, after $6.6 billion in October 2025.
  • Room to grow: OpenAI plans to nearly double staff to 8,000 by year-end and listed 816 openings in October 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Its chief rival pulled ahead: Claude maker Anthropic's $965 billion valuation in May 2026 topped OpenAI's $852 billion.
  • Profits are years away: OpenAI's own forecast, reported in September 2026, shows $278 billion of cash burn through 2030.
  • Expect leadership churn: 15 senior leaders, including the revenue and applications chiefs, left OpenAI between January and September 2026.

What makes OpenAI unique

  • A nonprofit is in charge: the OpenAI Foundation appoints OpenAI's whole board and held a 26% stake in October 2025.
  • ChatGPT reaches about one in seven people on Earth: 1.2 billion used it each week as of September 2026.
  • Microsoft is a major part-owner: it held about 27% in October 2025 and licenses OpenAI's models through 2032.

OpenAI launches mid-tier GPT-6.1 Terra at $1M input tokens, a tenth of Astra's price

OpenAI has added a mid-range model, GPT-6.1 Terra, to its GPT-6.1 family. It offers strong performance at a lower price than the company's top tiers. Terra costs $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. That compares with $2 and $10 for GPT-6.1 Sol, and $10 and $50 for GPT-6 Astra. OpenAI says its standard API prices are 50% lower than those of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Artificial Analysis, which tracks model cost and performance, says Terra is more intelligent for less than a third of the cost of the last Terra-class model. Ted Sanders, a member of technical staff at OpenAI, called it "not a bombshell release" for subscribers. Terra's knowledge cutoff is June 1, 2026.

Fanatics uses OpenAI's Codex for "Shop the Look" tool, lifting product engagement 10%

Fanatics has built a "Shop the Look" feature with OpenAI's Codex that suggests coordinated, in-stock team merchandise on product pages. It matches items by team and intended style, such as a hat and socks to go with a jersey. The company lists more than 1.5 million unique SKUs and releases upwards of a thousand new products each week. Photo shoots and styled outfits cannot keep pace, said Justin Tsai, chief product officer for Fanatics Commerce. Since launch, views of recommended items have risen 10%. Team merchandise remains Fanatics' biggest revenue source, and chief executive officer Michael Rubin said the commerce business will exceed $7 billion in revenue this year.

$15B data centre divides Wisconsin town as residents fear for their homes

A $15 billion data center under construction in Port Washington, Wisconsin, is dividing the town. The complex stretches along 2 miles of highway and covers 2.5 million square feet of former farmland. It is part of Stargate, a nationwide AI data center programme announced by President Trump last year. Vantage Data Centers is building the site in partnership with Oracle and OpenAI. Mayor Ted Neitzke says the project will bring thousands of jobs, infrastructure upgrades, and new tax revenue. Residents have responded with protests, lawsuits, and arrests for civil disobedience. Resident Amanda Mueller, whose home sits about half a mile away, wants a one-mile buffer zone around data centers. Both she and the mayor say the public does not know what such centres do.
