Notion builds a workspace app where people and teams write notes and documents, plan projects, and keep company wikis, all made from the same flexible blocks. It announced an AI writing assistant built on an OpenAI model in November 2022, two weeks before ChatGPT's launch set off the generative AI boom. A page can mix text, checklists, and databases that turn into task boards or calendars, while AI agents search the workspace and connected apps like Slack and run routine tasks on a schedule. Notion is free for individuals, and teams pay per-member subscriptions plus credits to run custom agents. Notion was founded in 2013, released its app in 2016, and is based in San Francisco.

Notion has acquired minimalist outlining tool WorkFlowy for an undisclosed sum, aiming to blend rapid, keyboard-driven workflows with structured database capabilities. WorkFlowy will remain a standalone app through at least the end of 2027. A new "Notion Flow" block, expected in beta next quarter, will bring WorkFlowy's infinite zooming and nested outlining directly into Notion pages. The integration will leverage Notion AI to transform hierarchical outlines into formatted databases or technical documents. The acquisition targets developers, researchers, and project managers who previously used WorkFlowy for rapid brainstorming before migrating data into Notion for formalisation. By combining both tools, users can move from ideation to documentation without switching platforms. The full integration will roll out to Notion Enterprise customers in Q4 2026, intensifying competition with rivals like Obsidian, Roam Research, and Mem.

Notion has introduced a developer platform that transforms its workspace into an orchestration hub for AI agents. The platform allows teams to deploy custom code, connect external agents, and build automated workflows that pull data from any database. The new Workers feature enables customers to run custom code in a secure cloud environment without external infrastructure. Database sync, powered by Workers, can pull real-time data from sources like Salesforce and Postgres into Notion databases. Since launching Custom Agents in February, Notion customers have built over one million agents. The platform now supports external agents including Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, allowing users to chat with them and track progress alongside Notion's native agents. The Developer Platform is available on Business and Enterprise plans, with Workers free through August.
Leapsome, a platform combining HRIS, performance and growth management, has appointed Jessica Zwaan as VP people strategy and operations and Rebecca Corliss as VP marketing as it expands its North American presence. The company has also won Notion as a customer. Founded in 2016, Leapsome has evolved from a talent management platform into an integrated system connecting core HR, performance, engagement and AI capabilities. The company now has more customers in the US than any other market. Zwaan joins from Talentful, where she served as chief operating officer, whilst Corliss brings experience from HubSpot, Owl Labs and VergeSense. Leapsome recently added a native ADP Workforce Now integration and expanded its Justworks partnership. The company is exhibiting at Transform 2026 this week in Las Vegas.
Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC has invested $270 million in Notion through a private tender offer, valuing the AI workspace company at $11 billion. Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures joined GIC in purchasing shares from current and former Notion employees. The transaction provides employee liquidity whilst bringing new institutional capital. Notion removed the one-year vesting cliff on employee options to allow nearly all staff to participate. The investment follows Notion's expansion into Singapore with a regional office opened in mid-2025. Notion's AI-powered features now drive over 50% of annual recurring revenue, which recently surpassed $600 million. The platform serves over 100 million users worldwide across 21 languages. The $11 billion valuation represents a slight increase from Notion's 2022 tender offer at $10 billion.
