Matter Intelligence builds credit assessment tools that go beyond traditional FICO scores. Its offerings analyze a wide range of signals and data to judge an individual’s potential, providing a more complete view of creditworthiness. The system works by running advanced algorithms on diverse data sources to produce a risk score that financial institutions can use when deciding whether to extend credit. This approach differs from many competitors by focusing on broader, signals-based indicators and inclusive finance, aiming to capture aspects of credit risk that conventional scores miss. Revenue comes from selling or licensing its credit assessment services to banks, lenders, and other partners who benefit from improved risk insights and the ability to serve a larger pool of customers. The goal is to expand access to financing and enable more people, including underserved groups, to qualify for credit through more accurate and equitable assessments.

Matter Intelligence to debut spectral roof tech. September 29, 2026 Matter Intelligence, an InsurTech applying spectral sensing and AI to property risk, is set to launch a new space-based property intelligence offering for insurers at ITC Vegas 2026. The tool is designed to uncover roof wear that standard imagery fails to pick up. The launch follows a proof-of-concept completed with one of the five largest property and casualty insurers in the US. The product uses spectral data captured from space, analysed by AI, to evaluate the physical state of residential roofs across large numbers of properties. Insurers can begin POC trials immediately, and full deployment with carriers is scheduled for Q1 2027. When assessing a home, property insurers have traditionally leaned on inputs such as satellite pictures, building age and information supplied by the policyholder. Although useful, these inputs do not necessarily capture how a structure is changing over time. Matter Intelligence aims to fill that gap by spotting early signs of decline that ordinary images overlook, offering a more detailed understanding of risk ahead of any claim. The platform supports three key points in the insurance cycle. At underwriting, it evaluates roof condition when a quote is being prepared, helping carriers cut down on site visits and referrals. For portfolio management, it highlights clusters of deterioration and tracks how property condition shifts. In claims, it contrasts a property's state before and after an event, helping separate fresh damage from existing wear and aiding triage and fraud checks. Its uses are not limited to roofs. The company says its data can also enhance existing flood and wildfire models by supplying details on the physical features and state of insured buildings. Matter Intelligence was established by scientists who had earlier built sophisticated sensors for NASA/JPL and US defence initiatives. The firm has taken spectral sensing, which records data beyond the range of human vision and standard cameras, and repurposed it for property insurance. Paired with AI capable of reading those signals across large volumes, the technology offers carriers a fresher and more impartial view of the properties they insure. Matter Intelligence co-founder and CEO Vishnu Sridhar said, "The problem isn't that insurers lack data. It's that much of that data tells them about a property rather than showing them its actual physical condition. We're giving insurers a way to bring the condition of the asset itself into their risk decisions." "We're not trying to replace the models insurers already use. We're giving them a better view of the physical world those models are trying to predict. If you can see deterioration earlier and measure property condition consistently at scale, you can prepare sooner and make better-informed decisions from underwriting to claims."
