FuelCell Energy replaces longtime CFO with Xylem finance executive. October 7, 2026 Danbury-based FuelCell Energy has replaced Michael Bishop, its chief financial officer since 2011, with a former finance executive from water technology company Xylem Inc. in South Windsor. FuelCell's board appointed Matthew Latino, 41, as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, effective Wednesday, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Bishop's tenure as CFO ended Tuesday. He will stay on for six months as a senior adviser to CEO Jason Few, through April 6, 2027, at his annual base salary of $461,591. The filing does not say why Bishop is leaving, but the board deemed his exit a termination without cause, which triggers severance benefits under his employment agreement. When his advisory role ends, Bishop will receive a year of base salary, or $461,591, paid out over 12 months. He will also get accelerated vesting of 68,518 restricted stock units, a prorated share of his performance stock units based on actual results, eligibility for his fiscal 2026 incentive bonus and up to 12 months of paid COBRA health coverage. The benefits are contingent on Bishop signing a release of claims and abiding by his noncompete and confidentiality agreements. Bishop joined FuelCell in 2003 as assistant controller and rose through the company's accounting ranks before being promoted to CFO. Latino most recently served, from November 2025 to June 2026, as senior vice president of finance and segment CFO for Xylem's measurement and control solutions business. He joined Xylem in 2012 and held a series of finance roles there, including vice president of investor relations. He began his career as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche. The leadership change comes as FuelCell retools its business around demand for on-site power from data centers. The company's sales pipeline grew to about 10 gigawatts in its fiscal third quarter, and it landed its first data center power deals, HBJ reported last month. FuelCell is also expanding its Torrington manufacturing plant to 500 megawatts of annual production capacity, a project it estimates will cost $200 million to $275 million. The company posted a third-quarter net loss of $45.3 million on revenue of $33 million, down 29% from a year earlier. Its fiscal year ends Oct. 31.

DANBURY, Conn., Oct. 07, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - FuelCell Energy, Inc. Matthew Latino will succeed him as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer effective October 7, 2026, as part of a planned transition. FuelCell Energy also reaffirmed its previously stated target of achieving positive Adjusted EBITDA results in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to the planned increase in annualized production rate, the conversion of awarded capacity backlog into committed backlog, customer delivery schedules and continued execution of the Company's cost reduction initiatives. The Company remains focused on converting its growing commercial pipeline - driven by demand for reliable, always-on power for AI and data center infrastructure - into durable growth, while scaling manufacturing, advancing customer financing structures and maintaining disciplined capital allocation, liquidity and balance sheet strength. "Mike has been a steward of this Company through every stage of its journey," said Jason Few, President and Chief Executive Officer. I have tremendous confidence in Jason, the leadership team, and the Board, and I look forward to supporting a seamless transition and sharing in the Company's success as a continuing shareholder." Latino joins FuelCell Energy from Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), where he served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Segment Chief Financial Officer of its approximately $2 billion Measurement & Control Solutions business. He previously led Xylem's investor relations function, giving him direct experience engaging the investment community and communicating strategy, performance and long-term value creation. Latino began his career at Deloitte & Touche LLP. "As we scale, our responsibility to shareholders is to grow with discipline-every megawatt we build and every dollar we deploy must compound value," Few said. "Matt has led finance for a large-scale industrial technology business, partnered with operating leaders to drive performance, and led investor relations for a global public company. He understands how the market measures execution and how to build the operating rhythm that delivers it. We believe he is the right leader to help us convert a significant commercial opportunity into durable shareholder value." "I am honored to join FuelCell Energy at an important point in the Company's evolution," said Latino. "The Company has a differentiated technology platform, a strong financial foundation and clear strategic priorities. Ecocoast integrates YSI and Aanderaa sensors into GCC buoy networks. * 29 September 2026 * Edited By: Haley McQueen Marine solutions specialist Ecocoast has been appointed by Xylem, a global provider of water and environmental monitoring technologies, as its Authorized Systems and Service Partner for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). (Image credit: Ecocoast/Xylem) The partnership strengthens Ecocoast's environmental monitoring solutions portfolio across the GCC through the integration of proven Xylem sensing technologies, including YSI and Aanderaa instruments, into the systems it supplies and services for clients across the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar. Xylem instruments will be integrated with Ecocoast's configurable data buoy platforms, delivering real-time environmental intelligence for marine and coastal applications. Combining water quality, oceanographic, and meteorological monitoring, the solution supports ports, marinas, coastal developments, offshore operations, environmental compliance programs, and marine research initiatives. Ecocoast has already demonstrated this integration capability through several regional deployments incorporating Xylem technology. At a water and power plant on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, Ecocoast locally assembled, configured, tested, and commissioned a YSI DB1750 Multi Purpose Metocean Buoy, integrating an LDI ROW oil spill sensor and Campbell Scientific logger with cellular telemetry. Live data is streamed to Xylem's YSI HydroSphere platform for remote monitoring. In Dubai, Ecocoast delivered a similar system for a major water utility, applying the same locally assembled, fully commissioned approach. Supported by dedicated facilities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Ecocoast provides regional integration, deployment, maintenance, and technical support across both its own technologies and partner solutions. This local capability ensures GCC clients receive responsive service and long-term operational support throughout the lifecycle of their environmental monitoring systems. Ecocoast has also provided sensor repair and YSI DB1750 reconfiguration services for a private island development in Umluj, Saudi Arabia, alongside sensor servicing, repairs, and annual maintenance contract calibrations for multiple clients in the UAE. Joachim de Jenlis, Chief Executive Officer of Ecocoast, said: "This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver complete environmental monitoring solutions tailored to the needs of clients across the GCC. By combining Xylem's sensing technology with our field-proven data buoy platforms and regional service capability, we are helping organizations monitor and protect their marine environments with reliable, real-time intelligence backed by teams that understand local operating conditions."
