AI at Gorgias
At Gorgias, AI is a natural extension of how we work and build. Our teams use it every day to research, write, analyze, code, and craft better customer experiences. Everyone has access to premium AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Granola & others) and an annual L&D budget to explore new ones.
The real magic happens when we share what we learn. Our #powerup Slack channel is a digital petri dish of new tools and workflows, and each team has AI champions who showcase fresh ideas during weekly company-wide standups, now practically AI demo sessions.
We see AI not as a replacement for creativity or empathy, but as a multiplier, helping us move faster, think deeper, and serve customers better.

Gorgias builds a customer-support platform for ecommerce teams. It provides an omnichannel helpdesk that unifies email, chat, SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook in one view, and connects to Shopify and 300+ ecommerce tools to surface orders, products, subscriptions, inventory, and other customer context inside conversations. Its AI Agent automates common requests like order tracking, returns, FAQs, discounts, and subscription changes, and passes more complex issues to human agents with the full conversation context. The product is offered as a subscription SaaS that supports workflows across customer service, sales, and post-purchase engagement. Compared with other helpdesks, Gorgias emphasizes deep ecommerce integrations, real-time access to order and customer data, and AI-driven automation to handle routine tasks within the chat-based support flow.

Loop uses AI to transform retail returns experience. Samir Kamnani, Senior International Programme Manager at Loop, specializes in helping retailers leverage technology to enhance the returns and post-purchase experience. With a background in product marketing and computer information systems from Chapman University, Kamnani has transitioned from Spireon to ecommerce and retail technology, focusing on balancing customer experience with profitability at Loop. Loop's ai-driven approach to returns management. Loop operates as an operations platform centered on retention, enabling brands to build customer confidence throughout the shopping journey. The company emphasizes simplifying the post-purchase experience, including tracking, returns, exchanges, protection, and customer support, transforming these touchpoints into opportunities for engagement. Trusted by over 5,000 brands, Loop has processed more than 100 million returns and offers tools like Workflows, Instant Exchanges, Shop Now, Checkout+, and Bonus Credit to reduce costs and increase customer lifetime value. Loop's competitive edge lies in its proprietary AI engine, trained on data from over 200 million shoppers, 100 million returns, and 1.4 billion shipments. This enables retailers to predict consumer behavior, encourage exchanges, and identify fraudulent activities. A recent report, The Returns Revenue Gap, revealed that 55% of British shoppers have abandoned purchases or stopped shopping with retailers due to returns policies, highlighting the direct impact on revenue and loyalty. Implementation focuses on seamless integration with existing ecommerce infrastructure, with success measured through metrics like exchange adoption, retained revenue, and refund rates. Best practices involve using data to understand return reasons and guide next steps. Challenges and opportunities in UK retail for 2027. UK retailers face pressure to protect margins while meeting consumer expectations for convenience. Fraud is another growing issue, as 31% of UK consumers admit to providing inaccurate return reasons, while 56% of retailers still rely on manual reviews to detect fraud. According to Kamnani, the opportunity lies in using data to manage returns intelligently - encouraging exchanges, reducing friction, and identifying risks. Loop aims to shift retailers from reactive to proactive strategies by leveraging AI to predict behavior, personalize experiences, and protect revenue. With 56% of retailers still using manual reviews for fraud detection, there is significant potential for technology adoption to streamline processes and enhance retention. Strategic partnerships powering Loop's ecosystem. Loop's effectiveness stems from its extensive network of over 6,000 partners across the ecommerce ecosystem. These collaborations include marketing and development agencies, logistics providers, and technology platforms that brands depend on for seamless operations. Key partners in the UK, such as Vervaunt, Domaine, and VisualSoft, specialize in enhancing the pre-and post-purchase experience through strategic expertise. Technology integrations with Shopify, Klaviyo, and Gorgias enable Loop to embed its AI-driven tools directly into retailers' existing systems. Shipping and fulfillment partnerships with OpenBorder, Sendcloud, and Global-e further streamline cross-border returns and reverse logistics, reducing friction for international shoppers. The company's 120 technology integrations showcase its commitment to interoperability. These partnerships allow brands to combine Loop's retention-focused platform with tools that optimize marketing, inventory management, and customer support. By aligning with industry leaders, Loop empowers retailers to create cohesive customer journeys while maintaining operational efficiency. The collaborative approach ensures that brands can scale globally without overhauling their core infrastructure, a critical factor for retailers managing complex, multi-channel operations. AI expansion and proactive returns strategies. Loop is advancing its AI capabilities beyond product recommendations and fraud detection to forecast returns and personalize the customer journey. By analyzing data from every interaction, it aims to shift retailers from reactive processing to proactive engagement. Kamnani emphasizes that each return generates actionable insights, enabling brands to refine products, optimize inventory, and anticipate customer needs. This transformation positions returns as a strategic lever for retention rather than a cost center. The company's vision includes embedding AI more deeply into pre-purchase stages, using predictive analytics to identify high-risk returns before they occur. Early indicators from Loop's platform suggest that integrating AI into returns workflows can reduce manual reviews by automating decision-making for low-risk cases. With only 16% of retailers currently using AI for fraud detection, the potential for scalable, intelligent systems remains significant. Loop's goal is to turn every return into a data point that strengthens customer relationships and operational resilience. Research indicates that 76% of retailers acknowledge the returns experience's impact on loyalty, yet only 6% prioritize customer churn as a post-purchase challenge. Closing this gap requires retailers to adopt data-driven approaches that align customer satisfaction with business outcomes. Loop's tools, such as Workflows and Instant Exchanges, automate these strategies, ensuring that returns become a seamless extension of the shopping journey rather than an endpoint.
CX-News: oct 2, 2026 - AI assistant updates your CRM without being asked. Posted by: Brett Rush October 1, 2026 Customer Experience News is a weekly newsletter and video about the most important news and discussions for Customer Experience and Customer Support Leaders. Gorgias launches Gaia Hub as new home base. Gorgias, a conversational AI platform for ecommerce, announced Gaia Hub, a new home page that shows where support stands, what changed, and what needs attention. Routines and Shared Chats bring Gaia access to every role on the team, not just admins. Agents can now start automations and bring Gaia into a conversation directly from their own view, instead of routing that work through an admin first. A single home page also means a team lead can check support health without piecing it together across several screens. Teams should decide which roles get access to which routines before rolling this out broadly, since wider access to automations also widens who can trigger them. Front's MCP server goes live for every plan. Front, a customer communication platform, announced that its MCP server becomes officially available on all plans starting October 6, letting any AI assistant triage, reply to, and analyze Front conversations. The September release also adds Admin Copilot routing recommendations and a new ClickUp AI knowledge source. Teams already building AI workflows around Front move from a beta or workaround to a supported, general-availability connection point, which reduces the risk of a breaking change disrupting a production workflow. Admin Copilot's routing recommendations can also cut the manual work of deciding who should handle a given conversation. Teams relying on an unofficial or custom-built MCP connection should plan the migration to the official server before October 6, since Front's own integration points will take priority over workarounds going forward. Zendesk launches Custom Agents for unique workflows. Zendesk, a customer service platform, announced Custom Agents, a way for businesses to build AI Agents around work that is specific to their own operation rather than relying only on pre-built agent templates. Teams with a workflow that does not fit a standard template get a path to automate it directly, instead of waiting for Zendesk to ship a matching pre-built agent or forcing their process to fit one that already exists. Building a Custom Agent still requires someone on the team to define the workflow clearly enough for the Agent to follow it, so teams without a documented process may want to write one down before attempting to automate it. Guru's Quality Agent catches duplicate content. Guru, a knowledge management platform, announced that its Quality Agent can now be given a plain-language rule to catch near-duplicate cards during a routine quality pass and unverify them automatically. Each flagged card points to the match it duplicates, so cleanup starts with a clear reason instead of a blank search, saving the person doing knowledge maintenance from tracking down the original themselves. Knowledge bases that have grown through several authors or an acquisition are the most likely to benefit, though teams should review the first batch of flags before trusting the rule to run unattended. Notion joins OpenAI Marketplace as launch partner. Notion, a workspace and knowledge platform, announced it is a launch partner for the new OpenAI Marketplace, letting teams put part of an existing OpenAI spend commitment toward their Notion usage. Teams that have already committed budget to OpenAI get a way to apply some of that spend to a tool they are already using, rather than treating the two budgets as separate line items. Finance and procurement teams should confirm how much of an existing OpenAI commitment qualifies before assuming the full amount transfers over. Featurebase turns customer calls into feedback. Featurebase, a customer support and feedback platform, announced that sales and support calls can now automatically become product feedback entries. Feedback that used to sit buried in a call recording or transcript now surfaces in the same place as every other piece of product feedback, without someone manually pulling it out after the fact. Teams should check how the feature identifies what counts as feedback within a call, since a poorly tuned filter could either miss real signal or flood the board with noise. Plain's Ari reads more knowledge and links GitHub. Plain, an AI support platform, announced that Ari can now read internal documentation behind JWT authentication rather than only GitBook, and sees a customer's tenant in context when answering. The release also customizes the thread sidebar layout per teammate, emails workspace owners when a webhook fails to deliver, and lets a GitHub pull request be linked to a thread by pasting its URL instead of searching for its title. Teams relying on internal docs behind a login wall get a way to put that knowledge in front of Ari without exporting or duplicating it elsewhere, and a failed webhook now surfaces immediately instead of silently breaking a downstream workflow. Teams should confirm Ari's access scope matches what each document's JWT permits, since broadening what Ari can read also broadens what it can potentially surface to a customer. Fin / Intercom lets teams merge duplicate user profiles. Fin / Intercom, a customer service platform, announced that a duplicate customer profile can now be merged into another directly from the conversation sidebar, with a preview of everything that will move before the merge happens. The feature includes a dedicated merge permission and a REST API endpoint in preview, so admins can control who merges profiles and automate the cleanup where needed, instead of leaving two incomplete customer records sitting side by side. Teams should assign the merge permission deliberately rather than broadly, since merging is not easily reversible once completed. HubSpot unveils Spotlight with a rebuilt Breeze. HubSpot, a customer platform, announced Spotlight at UNBOUND 2026 in Boston, headlined by a rebuilt Breeze Assistant that now takes action using a company's actual CRM data instead of only answering questions. Breeze also updates the CRM itself, logging calls, emails, and meetings automatically, and teams can now build their own Agents inside HubSpot by describing what they want, approving it, and tagging it into a workflow like a teammate. HubSpot also became the first CRM to integrate with ChatGPT Ads. Teams that have held off on custom AI Agents because building one felt like a developer project get a path to create one without writing code, and automatic CRM logging removes a chore that Support Specialists and sales reps have historically done by hand after every call. Teams should review what Breeze is permitted to update automatically before turning it on broadly, since an Agent that writes to the CRM on its own carries different risk than one that only answers questions. Now this is: Strategic support for CX Leaders. You've got ambitious Support targets and new metrics but you're not sure what to prioritize first. The list is long, the queue is getting longer, and you don't have time to step back and think about CX strategically. What if you could pressure-test your thinking with someone who's spent 20 years building Customer Support operations? No pitch, just a conversation.
Gorgias open-sources AI agent benchmark against 18 competitors. Tl;dr. Gorgias published weekly competitive evals of its AI customer support agent against named competitors, including metrics where it loses, with fully open-sourced testing harness. Key points. * 8,356 live conversations tested across 18 vendors with continuous weekly updates * Full test harness open-sourced on GitHub for reproducibility and verification * Gorgias ranks #1 in support quality but publishes competitor wins (Yuma on automation, Envive on pre-sale speed)
Agentmatica vs Zipchat, Gorgias, Tidio, Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Crisp. I make Agentmatica, so read this with that in mind. I've tried to be useful anyway: every competitor price below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or help center, checked on 28 September 2026, and where I couldn't confirm something I've said so. Each section links to a longer comparison with the plan-by-plan numbers. The short version is that these seven tools solve different problems. Four of them are helpdesks built around a support team working tickets. Two are chat and messaging tools. Zipchat and Agentmatica are agents that sit on the store and try to sell as well as answer. Which one fits depends mostly on who you want answering first: your team, or an agent on the page. How they charge. Pricing models differ more than the headline numbers do. Intercom, Zendesk and Freshdesk charge per agent seat, then add AI on top: Intercom charges $0.99 per Fin outcome, Zendesk includes a small allowance of automated resolutions per agent and then charges $1.50 to $2.00 each, and Freshdesk gives 500 AI sessions once and then charges $49 per 100. Gorgias charges by ticket volume and adds $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction for its AI Agent. The chat tools price differently again. Tidio's Starter plan is $29 a month, and its AI agent, Lyro, is a separate add-on from $39 for 50 AI conversations. Crisp's Mini plan is $45 a month with $5 of AI credits, which Crisp puts at roughly 90 AI conversations. Zipchat starts at $64 a month billed annually for 750 replies. Agentmatica has a free plan with 100 replies, then $29 for 1,000 replies, with no seats and no per-resolution charge. A reply, a conversation, a session and an outcome aren't the same unit, so don't compare the numbers directly. Take last month's chat volume and price it on each model. Zipchat. Zipchat is the closest to what Agentmatica do. It's an AI shopping assistant that recommends products and recovers abandoned carts, and it works across web chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and email. Plans run from $64 a month billed annually ($80 monthly) for 750 replies up to $960 a month for 14,000, with a 7-day trial and no free plan. Agentmatica couldn't find a source link shown to the shopper at time of writing. Pick Zipchat if you sell on several messaging channels and have the volume to use 750 or more replies a month. Pick Agentmatica if the website is where your shoppers ask, you want to start free, and you want to coach or take over conversations yourself. Gorgias. Gorgias is a Shopify helpdesk. Its AI Agent includes a Shopping Assistant, on Shopify only, that shows product cards shoppers can add to the cart and can generate single-use discount codes. It also works on email and SMS. The helpdesk starts at $10 a month for 50 tickets, or $40 with AI Agent, and there's a 30-day trial. Your team can review the sources behind each AI response, but Agentmatica couldn't find a source link shown to the shopper. Pick Gorgias if you have a support team working several channels from one inbox and want macros, SLAs and reporting. Pick Agentmatica if you're a smaller team, you're on WooCommerce as well as or instead of Shopify, or you'd rather not pay per resolved conversation. Tidio. Tidio combines live chat, ticketing and visual Flows with Lyro. With a paid Lyro quota, Lyro recommends products as cards and supports add to cart on Shopify, and Flows can send discount codes and recover abandoned carts. The free plan includes 50 Lyro conversations once, and after that Lyro is billed separately from the chat plan. Agentmatica couldn't find a per-answer source link. Pick Tidio if you want chat, ticketing and social messaging in one tool and don't mind buying AI conversations as an add-on. Pick Agentmatica if you want the AI replies included in one plan price and a written set of pairing rules the agent follows. Intercom. Intercom is a full customer service platform with Fin as its AI agent. Fin shows source links inline, which is a real strength, and Fin for ecommerce lets shoppers browse products and add them to the cart. Seats cost $29 to $132 a month billed annually, plus $0.99 per Fin outcome, with a 14-day trial. Pick Intercom if you run a support team that needs a shared inbox, ticketing, SLAs and Fin on email, phone and WhatsApp, and you can budget for seats plus outcomes. Pick Agentmatica if you're owner-led and want the selling and routine support on your website without buying a helpdesk. Zendesk. Zendesk is ticketing and customer service for support organisations. Support Team starts at $19 per agent a month billed annually, and Suite Team at $55 adds AI agents, messaging, live chat and voice. Generative replies can show a Sources link to the help articles used. Zendesk's retail page shows an AI agent offering a product with add to cart, but Agentmatica couldn't find setup details or a Shopify catalog connection at time of writing. Pick Zendesk if you have agents working a queue with SLAs and routing across email, messaging and voice. Pick Agentmatica if your customers mostly ask on the website before they buy and nobody is working a queue full time. Freshdesk. Freshdesk is a helpdesk priced per agent, from $19 a month billed annually, with a 14-day trial and no free plan on its pricing page. Freddy AI Agent can show source links when references are turned on. Agentmatica couldn't find product recommendations or add to cart in Freddy at time of writing. Pick Freshdesk if you're a support team that needs ticket routing, SLA policies and reporting across channels. Pick Agentmatica if you want the chat to sell on Shopify or WooCommerce and you'd rather not pay for seats. Crisp. Crisp is a shared inbox for chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and SMS, with an AI agent called Hugo on paid plans. The Free plan has no AI credits, and Mini is $45 a month with about 90 AI conversations of credit. When credits run out, Hugo hands chats to your team unless pay-as-you-go is on. Agentmatica couldn't find product recommendations or a per-answer source link, and its Shopify app focuses on order history and refunds. Pick Crisp if several people share one inbox across channels. Pick Agentmatica if you want the website chat to recommend products and build the cart. Where Agentmatica is behind. Agentmatica only work on your website. There's no WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email or SMS channel, no ticketing, no discount codes and no abandoned-cart campaigns. Product cards, add to cart and checkout links need a Shopify or WooCommerce store. If you run a support team that lives in tickets, a helpdesk will suit you better, and some of them now cite sources and sell products too. Where it's ahead. There's a free plan with no time limit, AI replies are included in every plan, and nothing is priced per seat or per resolution. You can write pairing rules and your free-shipping line in plain sentences, and the agent uses them when it suggests add-ons. You can give it a private instruction in the middle of a live conversation, take over with the agent paused, and hand the chat back. That combination is what Agentmatica built it for: an owner who wants the website to sell without handing over how customers are treated. Try it on your own store first. Agentmatica answers from your pages and catalog, recommends what fits, and builds the cart on Shopify and WooCommerce. Free plan, one script tag, and you can try it in your dashboard before it goes live.
Aissist launches Agent Insight to evaluate AI and human agents on custom standards. Sep 21, 2026 Agent Insight provides role-based scorecards, transcript evidence and recommendations that feed into Aissist's AI optimization layer. Mountain View, California, September 22, 2026 - Aissist, the company behind an agentic AI operational layer for customer service and sales, has announced the September 22, 2026 general availability of Agent Insight, an evaluation product for AI and human agents. Agent Insight measures every AI and human agent against standards a business defines for itself, scores 100 percent of conversations rather than a manual sample, and turns the results into guidance that improves the AI over time. Teams using Agent Insight compose their own metrics in plain language, covering resolution quality, CSAT, compliance adherence, tone and escalation discipline, without building a separate evaluation pipeline. Every conversation is scored against those definitions, and each score includes merit and opportunity summaries with timestamped transcript examples, so a result can be reviewed and defended rather than treated as a single opinion. Standards are set by role, so a billing specialist, an escalation engineer and an outbound sales agent are each measured against the expectations that apply to their work, with AI and human performance evaluated side by side in the same system. Each evaluation also produces specific recommendations describing where a conversation fell short, what should have happened instead, and which knowledge, phrasing or escalation decision would have produced a better outcome, giving supervisors coaching material without re-reading full transcripts. Agent Insight integrates natively in about 10 minutes with helpdesk platforms including Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Kustomer, Front and Gorgias, requiring no data migration, and it can evaluate a third-party AI agent as well as Aissist's own. Results route into Evolve, Aissist's optimization layer, where findings become refined agent guidance, corrected knowledge and improved escalation rules, alongside conversation analytics from Pulse and multi-agent resolution handled by AgentMesh. "Somebody else's rubric is not your quality standard," said Michael Wei, CEO of Aissist. "Every company has its own definition of a good conversation - the compliance line it can't cross, the tone it wants, the moment it expects an escalation. Agent Insight starts from the opposite assumption: you write the standard, we measure everything against it." "Your best human agents already know what excellent looks like in your business," Wei said. "Agent Insight makes that legible, and then teaches it to the AI. The loop is the point - measure, compare, improve, repeat, all under a standard you own." About Aissist Aissist is the agentic AI operational layer for automating and continuously improving customer service and sales. Its products are AgentMesh for multi-agent resolution, Pulse for conversation analytics, Evolve for continuous optimization, and Agent Insight for agent evaluation. Across Aissist projects through March 31, 2026, AgentMesh achieved an 83% average resolution rate and 4.8/5 average CSAT. Aissist uses usage-based pricing capped per resolution. Aissist integrates natively with 10+ helpdesks including Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Kustomer, Front, Gorgias, Salesforce, and HubSpot, supports 65+ languages, and is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant.
