- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Certified Medical Assistant certification is required.
- Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, computer skills for scheduling, and familiarity with general office procedures and equipment are required.
- Set up patients in the exam room.
- Perform and document vital signs, including manual blood pressure measurements.
- Perform and document electrocardiograms.
- Perform and document medication reconciliation.
- Perform and document the reason for the visit and the patient's health care concern.
- Interview patients and discuss changes in their health since the last visit.
- Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures.
- Prepare appropriate medications for injections.
- Handle phone messages and faxes.
- Perform medical reception responsibilities as needed.
