Allegiant Leads North American Low Cost Travel in 2026 With Third Consecutive Award and Top 10 Global Rank.

Allegiant Leads North American Low Cost Travel in 2026 With Third Consecutive Award and Top 10 Global Rank. Sep 19, 2026 5 mins to read Allegiant Leads North American Low Cost Travel in 2026 With Third Consecutive Award and Top 10 Global Rank. Allegiant Leads North American Low Cost Travel in 2026 With Third Consecutive Award and Top 10 Global Rank. The reason is clear. Allegiant secured Skytrax's Best Low-Cost Airline in North America title for a third straight year and also reached tenth place globally. Therefore, the airline stands out in regional budget travel while gaining international recognition. Its nonstop leisure model, smaller-city links and passenger-backed ranking strengthen its position. For travellers, the result highlights visibility, affordable options and growing confidence in the carrier. Allegiant ranks first among North America's low-cost airlines. Skytrax's official 2026 results place Allegiant ahead of four other low-cost airlines in the North American regional ranking. Allegiant Air ranked first among North America's low-cost airlines in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Sun Country Airlines followed in second place, while Southwest Airlines ranked third. Air Canada rouge secured fourth position, and Frontier Airlines completed the regional top five. The result strengthens Allegiant's position in the North American budget aviation market and marks another major recognition for the airline. For travellers, the ranking highlights Allegiant's visibility among leading low-cost carriers serving the region. It also reflects passenger feedback collected through Skytrax's international airline survey and supports the airline's growing profile in affordable leisure travel. Air Travel Three consecutive wins strengthen Allegiant's position. The 2026 award continues a three-year run for Allegiant. Allegiant won the North American title for the first time in 2024. The airline's official newsroom confirmed a second consecutive victory in 2025, while Skytrax's 2026 results establish the third straight win. For travellers, the repeated recognition is notable because it reflects passenger feedback collected across separate annual survey periods rather than a single year's result. Passenger choice drives the World Airline Awards. The World Airline Awards are based on Skytrax's international airline passenger satisfaction survey. For the 2025/2026 awards cycle, the customer survey operated from September 2025 through August 2026. More than 100 customer nationalities participated, and over 300 airlines were included in the survey results. Skytrax says entries are screened using IP and user information, while duplicate or ineligible submissions are removed. The survey is also open to airlines worldwide rather than being limited to a pre-selected membership group. That makes the award especially relevant to travellers because customers make the choices behind the rankings. Allegiant enters the global low-cost Top 10. Allegiant's 2026 result extends beyond North America. Skytrax ranked the airline 10th globally among low-cost carriers. Allegiant Air entered the global low-cost airline Top 10 in 2026, securing 10th place in the official Skytrax ranking. AirAsia took the top position, followed by Scoot and Vueling Airlines, while Eurowings and Iberia Express completed the top five. Volotea, Transavia France, Flynas and IndiGo also ranked ahead of Allegiant globally. The result is significant for Allegiant because it combines a strong international position with its separate title as Best Low-Cost Airline in North America. For travellers, the ranking highlights Allegiant's growing visibility in the wider global low-cost aviation market. Air Travel Small and mid-sized cities remain central to Allegiant's travel model. Allegiant's network strategy is particularly relevant to US leisure tourism. The airline says it has built its business around all-nonstop flying connecting small and medium-sized communities with major holiday destinations. This differs from traditional hub-and-spoke networks that often require passengers to make a connection through a large airport. Allegiant said after its 2025 Skytrax victory that connecting communities often overlooked by other carriers remains a key part of its business strategy. That model can give travellers in smaller US markets direct access to leisure destinations without first travelling through a major airline hub. Allegiant continues expanding leisure travel options. The airline is continuing to add leisure-focused flying in 2026. In August, Allegiant announced nine new nonstop routes, including seasonal services designed around spring holiday demand. On 1 September, it announced new year-round services from Flint Bishop International Airport to Orlando International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport, while increasing flights on existing Florida routes. These additions underline how the airline continues to target direct leisure demand from regional communities. What Allegiant's 2026 award means for travellers. The most important result is not simply another airline trophy. Allegiant has now held Skytrax's Best Low-Cost Airline in North America title for three consecutive years, while simultaneously reaching the global low-cost Top 10 and winning the US-specific low-cost category in 2026. For travellers, the recognition draws attention to a low-cost airline built around nonstop leisure travel, smaller and mid-sized communities and direct access to holiday markets. AirAsia remains the global low-cost winner, but Allegiant's regional No. 1 position and global No. 10 ranking make 2026 a significant year for the US carrier and its place in North American budget travel. Allegiant leads North American low-cost travel in 2026 because it has won Skytrax's Best Low-Cost Airline in North America title for a third consecutive year while reaching 10th place globally. The result reflects passenger survey feedback and gives the airline stronger visibility among budget travellers. Its nonstop leisure model also helps connect smaller and mid-sized US communities directly with holiday destinations. The reason behind the headline is therefore clear: Allegiant combines repeated regional recognition with a global Top 10 position. For travellers, that means a low-cost carrier with growing international profile, direct leisure connectivity and sustained passenger recognition in 2026. Image: Allegiant Airline

Allegiant wins top award as the Best Low-Cost Airline in North America at 2026 World Airline Awards. For third consecutive year, Allegiant takes first place for its exceptional service LAS VEGAS, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Allegiant Travel Company (NASDAQ: ALGT) has been named 2026's Best Low-Cost Airline in North America by Skytrax, the international air transport rating organization, marking the third consecutive year Allegiant has won the award. The airline received the recognition today during Skytrax's World Airline Awards ceremony held in London, known throughout the industry as the "Oscars of aviation" for its recognition of outstanding customer service. "Three years running is a reflection of the consistency our team members bring to every flight," said Greg Anderson, Allegiant's Chief Executive Officer. "As we grow, our commitment to delivering a seamless, comfortable and convenient travel experience for our customers hasn't changed, and this recognition tells us that focus is resonating with the people who matter most: our passengers." To determine the winners, Skytrax conducted the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey in the world, with more than 100 customer nationalities participating and 24.8 million eligible entries counted in the results. The survey ran from September 2025 through August 2026. "We congratulate Allegiant on this fabulous achievement by winning this third successive award as North America's Best Low-Cost Airline," said Edward Plaisted, Chief Executive Officer of Skytrax. "It is a very strong recognition from customers of Allegiant's service standards and customer-focused approach." Founded with the mission to make air travel more accessible and convenient, Allegiant's unique business strategy continues to reshape the U.S. leisure travel industry. The airline's network of all-nonstop flights, serving communities often overlooked by other carriers, has been a key differentiator that separates Allegiant from the rest of the industry. The award comes as Allegiant continues integrating with Sun Country Airlines, which received the same honor in 2023. The combination creates the leading value-focused airline in the United States, with a combined fleet of nearly 200 aircraft serving almost 175 cities. While the two carriers continue to operate under separate brands and booking systems during the integration period, Allegiant is working toward a single operating certificate and a unified customer experience across both networks, with full integration expected over the next two years. As that work progresses, Allegiant is applying the same standards of hospitality and service recognized by Skytrax to flight attendants, ground crews, and support teams across the combined airline. This third consecutive Skytrax win adds to a growing list of accolades recognizing Allegiant's customer experience. The airline was ranked the #2 U.S. airline overall and the top-ranked value carrier in The Wall Street Journal's 2025 airline rankings, and was named among the top three U.S. airlines - and the #1 ultra-low-cost carrier - in J.D. Power's North America Airline Satisfaction Study. Together with the scale gained through the Sun Country combination, these honors reinforce Allegiant's position as one of the largest value-focused airlines in the country, built on a foundation of affordable, reliable, and increasingly recognized customer service. "As we bring Sun Country into the Allegiant fold, awards like this matter because they're a customer verdict, not just ours," Anderson added. "It tells us the fundamentals - nonstop flights, friendly service, and fair prices - still work, even as we scale." About Allegiant - Together Omventure Fly(TM) Las Vegas-based Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) is an integrated travel company with an airline at its heart, focused on connecting customers with the people, places and experiences that matter most.
