In the role, Newey will lead the hotel's positioning, commercial strategy and demand generation as it prepares to enter one of Australia's most competitive luxury markets. He brings deep experience in Sydney's luxury hotel market, and a track record of guiding commercial strategy through major hotel openings, repositioning and transformation. Most recently, Newey worked as portfolio director of sales and marketing across InterContinental Sydney, InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reed and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. In this role, he led commercial strategy across luxury leisure, corporate travel, groups and events, food and beverage, digital marketing and global luxury markets. Prior to this, Newey was portfolio director for Accor, responsible for properties including Pullman Sydney Hyde Park, Novotel Sydney Central, Novotel Sydney Parramatta, Pullman & Mercure King George Square Brisbane and Pullman & Mercure Albert Park Melbourne.
