About the job

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least five years of hands-on mechanical assembly, machine build, or industrial maintenance experience in tolerance-critical work is required.
  • Demonstrated depth in either fine-motor precision assembly or heavy precision mechanical assembly, working competence in the other, and willingness to become qualified in both are required.
  • Experience directing other people's work as a lead, foreman, crew chief, shop supervisor, trainer, or military maintenance noncommissioned officer is required, including checking their work and correcting errors.
  • Fluency with mechanical drawings, work instructions, bills of materials, and precision measuring tools, with the ability to teach these subjects, is required.
  • Sound judgment about when to stop work is required.
  • Clear communication between the production floor and engineering, plus basic computer skills for build and training records, is required.
  • Availability for overtime and weekend work during production pushes, paid at 1.5 times the regular rate, and willingness to flex across shifts as the build schedule requires are required.
  • The ability to handle components and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier assemblies handled using hoists, lift assists, or team lifts, is required.
  • The ability to move between bench stations and the structural line throughout a shift and perform frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling is required.
  • The ability to perform sustained fine-motor manipulation of small components and precision hand tools under magnification while wearing required personal protective equipment and electrostatic discharge equipment is required, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
  • Build robots and carry a production station when the line requires it.
  • Assign and sequence work across both assembly cells against the build schedule and escalate schedule conflicts early.
  • Perform first-piece and first-article verification and approve finished assemblies against acceptance criteria, including joint backlash, running torque, runout, alignment, tendon pre-tension, and range of motion.
  • Keep torque tools and gauges in calibration.
  • Train, qualify, and re-qualify assemblers on stations and tooling, and maintain training records showing each assembler's qualifications.
  • Own work-instruction accuracy across both cells and coordinate corrections with manufacturing engineering, including for prototype and pilot builds.
  • Control matched-set and serialization discipline across both cells.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for damaged, nonconforming, or missing parts, including material review and kit readiness.
  • Own floor safety for both cells, including rigging and crane practices on the structural side.
  • Report daily build status, constraints, and quality escapes to the Production Manager.
  • Recommend hiring, leveling, and promotion decisions.
  • Become qualified to work in both fine-motor precision and heavy precision mechanical assembly cells.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience standing up a new assembly line or cell, or bringing a new product into production.
  • Experience in both fine-motor and heavy precision assembly during the same career.
  • Material review board, nonconformance, root cause analysis, or torque-tool and gauge-calibration program ownership experience.
  • Overhead crane, hoist, forklift, or rigging certification, with the ability to train others on it.
  • Military maintenance supervision experience as a machinist's mate, hull technician, maintenance noncommissioned officer, avionics chief, or ordnance chief.

About the company

Persona AI develops humanoid robots and a labor platform to perform physically demanding tasks in industries like shipbuilding, construction, and energy infrastructure. These robots work alongside human employees to handle specialized jobs such as welding, allowing industrial sites to maintain continuous, 24/7 operations. Unlike many competitors, the company uses a "Constructor Program" that allows governments and large corporations to help co-architect the robots to meet their specific operational needs. The company's goal is to solve global labor shortages by providing a scalable robotic workforce for the world's most difficult industrial environments.

What believers are saying

  • POSCO signed a February 2026 MOU and began steel-coil trials that month.
  • Brian Davis joined in March 2026 after Amazon Robotics and Dell scaling roles.
  • A September 2026 report said Persona AI planned third-generation robots this fall.

What critics are saying

  • Persona AI remains pre-production; HD Hyundai deployment starts in 2027.
  • The company sold $65.36 million toward a $141.96 million 2026 offering.
  • If field trials fail, Persona AI becomes a demo company, not a manufacturer.

What makes Persona AI unique

  • Nic Radford and Jerry Pratt bring NASA and Figure-level robotics expertise.
  • Persona AI targets shipyards, steel mills, and energy sites, not consumer robots.
  • Its Constructor Program co-designs robots with governments and industrial giants like HD Hyundai.

Persona AI hires ex-Amazon Robotics exec to scale humanoid robot manufacturing

Persona AI, a Houston-based humanoid robotics company, has appointed Brian Davis as Head of Global Manufacturing to scale commercial production for industrial applications. Davis brings over 30 years of operations experience, including roles at Amazon Robotics and Dell Technologies, where he oversaw 25-fold increases in manufacturing volumes within four years. The appointment comes as Persona prepares to fulfil growing demand following agreements with HD Hyundai and POSCO Group for deployment in shipyards and steel manufacturing, plus a pilot programme with Louisiana. Founded in 2024, Persona AI develops humanoid robots for high-risk industrial tasks including welding, fabrication and heavy maintenance. Davis will oversee manufacturing infrastructure, supply chain management and quality control as the company transitions from prototype to volume production.
