Citigroup card delinquencies beat fears, but 2029 forecasts hinge on $108.8B revenue

Citigroup said third-quarter credit card delinquency ratios were better than feared. That suggests consumer credit quality in its card portfolio held up despite inflation pressure on households. The bank also issued a run of senior unsecured and subordinated notes maturing between 2028 and 2046. It announced redemptions of notes due in 2026, which refreshes its debt stack. Analysts forecast revenue of $108.8 billion and earnings of $22.4 billion by 2029, up from current earnings of $17.9 billion. That assumes 9.3% yearly revenue growth. More optimistic analysts had pencilled in revenue of $112.8 billion and earnings of $25.2 billion before the bond issuance. Credit quality in US cards remains the key swing factor.

Citi's Sieg still backs private credit as BDC withdrawals hit 13% and wealth inflows reach $38B

Citi still recommends private credit to clients, said Andy Sieg, head of its wealth management unit, despite strain in the market. He told CNBC the bank treats private credit and private equity as long-term building blocks, not trades. Withdrawal requests at non-traded private credit funds run well above their typical 5% quarterly caps. At 11 of the 14 largest non-traded business development companies, requests averaged 13.0% in the third quarter, down from 13.9% in the second. Citi's wealth revenue rose 15% in the third quarter, its tenth straight quarter of growth. A record $38 billion in net new investment assets flowed in, mostly from existing clients. The International Monetary Fund has warned that private credit could amplify market stress.

Blackstone unveils $63B Broadcom financing deal with BofA, Citi and Morgan Stanley

Blackstone has announced a $63 billion financing deal with Broadcom and a group of banks that includes Bank of America, Citi, and Morgan Stanley. Its shares edged higher on the day, trading at $119.06. The asset manager has a market value near $136.61 billion. Fifty of 93 analysts rate the stock a buy, with a median price target of $138, about 15.9% above the current level. Shares sit at support around $118.74 and trade below their 50-day and 200-day moving averages. A close above $125.04 would signal buyers are following through, while a drop below $118.74 would suggest the move is fading.
