Deckers appoints RealReal CEO to board as UGG courts Gen Z via Urban Outfitters

Deckers Outdoor has appointed Rati Sahi Levesque, chief executive officer of The RealReal, to its board of directors. She brings experience in resale, digital merchandising, and brand building. The US footwear and apparel group, which has a market cap of about $11.6 billion, is also expanding a retail partnership between its UGG brand and Urban Outfitters. The aim is to reach younger Gen Z shoppers. The partnership could deepen UGG's appeal as a year-round lifestyle brand. Yet more wholesale exposure may raise the risk of discounting and pressure on margins.

Hoka and Ugg parent Deckers Brands sees Shares fall after Q2 sales miss.

Hoka and Ugg parent Deckers Brands sees Shares fall after Q2 sales miss. The company also cut its yearly sales guidance. October 22, 2026, 4:44pm Shares of Deckers Brands, the parent company of Hoka and Ugg, dropped over 8 percent on Thursday in after-market trading following the company's mixed performance in the second quarter. The Goleta, Calif.-based company reported that net sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2027 increased 3.5 percent to $1.48 billion compared to $1.43 billion in the same year-ago period. Net income for the three months ended Sept. 30 rose 16.8 percent to $313.1 million, or $2.31 a diluted share, from $268.2 million, or $1.82 a diluted share, the prior year. Net sales this quarter missed analysts' expectations, which called for net sales in the range of $1.50 billion to $1.52 billion. However, the company did beat the Street's best bet when it comes to diluted earnings per share (EPS), with analysts expecting EPS to be in the range of $1.76 to $1.83, according to Yahoo Finance. The company said on Thursday that it received International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff net refunds totaling $46.0 million, plus associated interest of $3.0 million, which were recognized as a reduction of cost of sales and an increase to total other income, respectively. The net benefit to both gross margin and operating margin was approximately 310 basis points. Net of tax, this resulted in an approximate 28 cent benefit to second quarter fiscal year 2027 diluted EPS. Turning to the company's performance by brand, Hoka led the way with net sales of $677.2 million, a 6.8 percent increase compared to $634.1 million a year. Deckers' "Other" brands division - which includes Teva - saw net sales plummet 54.3 percent to $17.0 million compared to $37.2 million last year. The company said that net sales for the respective "Other" brands, wholesale channel and domestic geography include current fiscal year declines related to the phase-out of Koolaburra brand standalone operations. As for wholesale, Deckers said that net sales in the channel increased 5.5 percent to $1.09 billion compared to $1.04 billion last year, while the direct-to-consumer (DTC) channel saw net sales decline 1.8 percent to $387.5 million compared to $394.6 million a year ago. The company said DTC comparable net sales were down 6.4 percent in the quarter. By region, the company noted that net sales domestically dipped 0.4 percent to $835.8 million compared to $839.5 million in Q2 2026. International net sales in the period increased 9.0 percent to $644.7 million compared to last year's $591.3 million. Stefano Caroti, president and chief executive officer of Deckers Brands, said in a statement on Thursday that the company delivered earnings above its own expectations by "maintaining disciplined marketplace management and a focus on expense control in a challenging consumer environment." Looking ahead, the company is lowered yearly sales outlook following its most recent performance. Deckers now expects net sales for the full fiscal 2027 year between $5.70 billion and $5.73 billion. This is down from its previous yearly guidance, which called for net sales between $5.86 billion to $5.91 billion for fiscal 2027. However, However, Deckers raised its expectations for diluted EPS for the year, which is now expected to be in the range of $7.80 and $7.95. That compares with the prior outlook at between $7.35 and $7.50. "As we move through the back half of fiscal 2027, we are taking deliberate actions to strengthen our connection with consumers, sharpen execution, and concentrate resources behind our greatest opportunities," Caroti said. "We remain confident in the significant global opportunities ahead for both Hoka and Ugg, and our ability to drive sustainable growth and create long-term shareholder value." Separately, Deckers also said the company has appointed Rati Sahi Levesque to its board of directors, effective Dec. 1. In connection with her appointment, Lauri Shanahan will retire from Deckers' board after more than a decade. 13 years of doing solar differently in Santa Barbara.

13 years of doing solar differently in Santa Barbara. For 13 years, Brighten Solar Co. has helped Santa Barbara homeowners embrace solar energy through education, transparency, expert craftsmanship and a commitment to lasting relationships Sponsored by Brighten Solar October 13, 2026 | 1:00 pm Thirteen years ago, Marine Schumann and Jeremy Favier looked out over Santa Barbara from the Riviera and noticed something that didn't add up: abundant sunshine nearly year-round, yet rooftops largely bare of solar panels. So they started asking why. Before launching Brighten Solar Co., they spent seven months researching the local market, interviewing homeowners, architects, contractors, and sustainability officials across the county. The barrier, they found, was trust, not interest. Solar had developed a reputation problem, locally and nationally: aggressive sales tactics, confusing financing, and homeowners who felt misled. A technology meant to save people money had become something people approached with caution. "We didn't want to build just another solar company," says Schumann, co-founder and CEO of Brighten Solar Co. "We wanted to build the kind of company homeowners told us they wished they had worked with: one that would educate them, be transparent about the costs and tradeoffs, and still be there long after the installation was complete." The research gave them a clear direction: before homeowners could decide, they needed honest information about how the technology works, how it integrates with a roof, and what it truly costs. That became Brighten Solar's mission, education first, and it remains so thirteen years later. There was also a local challenge: Santa Barbara's clay tile roofs, which give the region its character but require specialized skill to install on. Marine and Jeremy, both from France, already knew this terrain, since solar has long been installed throughout southern France on similar roofs, giving them something uncommon locally: the know-how to install without compromising a home's integrity or character. "A solar system should never come at the expense of the home it is meant to improve," says Favier, co-founder and COO of Brighten Solar Co. "The quality of an installation is not measured only by how much energy it produces on the first day. It is measured by how safely, reliably, and respectfully it performs over decades." Together, that education-first mindset and the technical expertise to work with tile roofs properly became the foundation of Brighten Solar Co. That same commitment to trust led to one of Brighten Solar Co.'s most significant partnerships - not a residential rooftop, but a corporate headquarters. In 2017, Deckers Brands installed solar at its Goleta campus: close to 1,200 panels, 394 kilowatts of capacity, producing an estimated 634,000 kilowatt-hours a year, enough to offset nearly 100 homes' electricity use. Almost a decade later, Brighten Solar still partners with Deckers, extending its educational approach to employees considering solar and storage for their own homes. That same sense of responsibility guided Brighten Solar's approach to battery storage: technologies chosen for safety, reliability, and environmental impact, rather than simply following what was most widely marketed. Brighten Solar's roots in the community have grown the same way, one relationship at a time: the Community Environmental Council's Solarize program, the Environmental Defense Center, public webinars on solar and energy resilience, certified green business status since 2018, and support for Unite to Light's solar-lighting work. Thirteen years later, the questions homeowners ask haven't changed much: will solar work on my roof, will it hold up, and can I trust the installer? What has changed is the landscape around those questions - financing, battery technology, grid reliability, and why people choose solar in the first place. The answer Brighten Solar built its reputation on has stayed the same: education first, not a sales pitch. Respect the character of every home, because no two roofs, families, or energy needs are identical. Treat each project as the beginning of a relationship, not a transaction, whether it's a corporate headquarters or a first-time residential installation.
