Requirements
  • A Master of Science in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Operations Research, or a related field with 8+ years of industry experience, or a Bachelor of Science in a related field with 10+ years of hands-on industry experience.
  • Domain expertise in supply chain, operations management, logistics, planning and forecasting, production integration, or channel management.
  • Expertise building and operating large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and modern frameworks such as dbt, Spark, and Kafka or Flink for streaming.
  • Proficiency with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and open table formats such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg.
  • Command of advanced SQL for complex data modeling, query optimization, and analytics engineering.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or equivalent, including production-grade monitored pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience implementing data quality frameworks, observability tooling, and data lineage tracking in production environments.
  • Experience implementing and productionalizing Generative AI and Agentic AI tooling, including LLM-assisted code generation, MCP servers, and AI-powered data pipeline automation.
  • Experience with data visualization and self-service analytics platforms such as Tableau, Streamlit, and ThoughtSpot, including the ability to build light front-end data products.
  • Experience staying current with industry best practices, adopting emerging technologies such as vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, and AI-native data tools, and building functional prototypes to validate concepts.
Responsibilities
  • Engage with business and analytics teams to understand data needs and translate requirements into robust, scalable engineering solutions that impact Operations decisions.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines and architectures from ingestion and transformation to delivery across batch and real-time streaming workloads.
  • Build and maintain high-quality dimensional, relational, or knowledge graph-based data models using modern transformation frameworks such as dbt for analytics and AIML use cases.
  • Architect and operate data workflows using orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow with monitoring, alerting, and service-level agreement management.
  • Implement data observability, lineage tracking, and validation frameworks to uphold data integrity and trustworthiness across the platform.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, and Analysts to operationalize models and support production AIML workflows.
  • Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to manage cloud-native data environments such as Snowflake, Spark, Delta Lake, and Apache Iceberg, focusing on performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub and Claude and large language model-powered agents to accelerate pipeline authoring, code review, documentation, and transformation logic generation from natural-language specifications.
  • Apply DataOps principles, including continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, version control, automated testing, and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, to deliver reliable production-grade data products.
  • Enable self-service analytics and reduce bottlenecks for downstream consumers through a data product mindset.
  • Tune query performance, partitioning strategies, and storage optimization for data at scale in cloud warehouses and lakehouses.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, and architecture decision records.
  • Present data infrastructure capabilities, health metrics, and architectural recommendations to senior leadership in clear, non-technical terms.
  • Research and evaluate emerging data engineering technologies, including streaming architectures, Generative AI-powered data tooling, and next-generation warehousing, to expand team capabilities and accelerate innovation.

Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
