Requirements
  • A high school diploma, equivalent education such as a General Educational Development credential, or post-secondary education is required.
  • One year of experience as an Instrument Technician is required.
Responsibilities
  • Disinfect surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Sterilize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assemble surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Recognize surgical instruments and surgical instrument trays typically assembled in the applicable area.
Desired Qualifications
  • Central Service Technician Certification is preferred.
  • For inpatient sterile processing, Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification is preferred.
  • For outpatient sterile processing, Certified Registered Central Service Technician, Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, or Certified Ambulatory Surgery Sterile Processing Technician certification is preferred.
  • For GI Labs, Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor certification is acceptable.
  • Visual color acuity may be required depending on the role in specific units.
