Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with youth aged 6–17 years old.
  • Maintain certificates required for the position, including First Aid and CPR.
  • Have a valid Texas driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle checks; fingerprints are needed if the applicant has lived out of state within the past five years.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
  • Maintain the computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Travel as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit and retain youth to serve on the Youth Advisory Committee.
  • Coordinate Youth Advisory Committee meetings in accordance with grant requirements, develop meeting agendas, and facilitate meetings.
  • Ensure Youth Advisory Committee feedback is integrated into ongoing program design and continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as a Youth Advisory Committee coordinator contact and liaison during planning for the CYD Youth Summit, and attend the summit with youth while providing support.
  • Facilitate leadership curriculum for the Youth Advisory Committee and Youth Leadership D participants.
  • Complete intake assessments and program-required pre- and post-tests.
  • Coach, oversee, and support Youth Advisory Committee and Youth Leadership D social justice projects.
  • Train in and facilitate other program curricula, including violence prevention, independent living skills development, and substance use prevention content.
  • Participate in the annual Community Strengths and Needs Assessment process, including distributing surveys, facilitating focus groups and interviews, providing direct feedback, and compiling and analyzing program data.
  • Abide by Positive Youth Development framework principles and employ Trust Based Relational Intervention strategies.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate student participants.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards of conduct and comply with the required dress code.
  • Meet or exceed grant-specified enrollment numbers and meeting frequency.
  • Ensure youth leadership curriculum pre- and post-test scores demonstrate increased leadership skill and perceived self-efficacy.
  • Maintain Youth Advisory Committee and Youth Leadership D retention at 85% or more.
  • Ensure participants complete social justice projects specified by the grant.
  • Ensure at least 90% of youth receiving PHSR instruction demonstrate increased knowledge following life skills instruction.
  • Ensure at least 90% of youth receiving PHSR instruction demonstrate attitudinal change following life skills instruction.
  • Maintain at least 95% quality assurance compliance, including timely and accurate data entry, curriculum and Trust Based Relational Intervention fidelity adherence, form completion, budget adherence, financial reporting, and other program reporting.
  • Maintain at least 85% positive youth satisfaction survey scores.
  • Ensure youth participating in the program remain safe and do not participate in delinquent behavior while receiving services.
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned per grant requirements.
