About the company

Texas Instruments designs and makes analog and embedded processing chips, the basic parts inside cars, factory equipment, data centers, and consumer electronics, and it sells one of the broadest chip catalogs in the industry. In 1958, its engineer Jack Kilby built the first integrated circuit, the building block of modern electronics, and later won a Nobel Prize for it. Its analog chips regulate power and convert signals such as sound and heat into data, while its microcontrollers act as small built-in computers, and TI earns money selling both to device makers. It also makes the graphing calculators many students use in math class. Texas Instruments was founded in 1930 and is based in Dallas, Texas.

What believers are saying

  • Cash is flowing again: after factory spending, TI kept $6.5 billion in the year to June 2026, versus $1.8 billion.
  • New plants mean jobs: TI's Sherman, Texas chip plant opened in December 2025, on a site planned for 3,000 jobs.
  • Stock grants pay steady income: TI raised its dividend 7% in September 2026, its 23rd straight yearly increase.

What critics are saying

  • Its closest rival is growing faster: Analog Devices' sales rose 40% in its quarter ended August 2026, versus TI's 23%.
  • Expect merger cost cuts: TI's purchase of wireless chipmaker Silicon Labs, agreed February 2026, targets $450 million in yearly savings.
  • Expect to work on-site: all 835 TI job postings in October 2026 were on-site, with none remote or hybrid.

What makes Texas Instruments unique

  • It controls its own supply: TI makes most chips in its own factories and targets over 95% in-house by 2030.
  • It skips the middlemen: over 80% of TI's 2025 revenue came from direct sales, including its TI.com store, not distributors.
  • Insiders run TI: CEO Haviv Ilan joined in 1999, and CFO Julie Knecht, named June 2026, has 25-plus years there.

Texas Instruments stock is up 91.4% in a year at 40 times earnings: buy now or wait?

Texas Instruments (TXN) shares have returned 91.4% over twelve months, against 13.3% for the S&P 500. The stock trades at 40.0 times earnings, against 22.8 for the index, and near its highest close of the year. That multiple is higher than at 36 of the last 40 quarter ends. Yet the 41.1% operating margin is higher than at only 15 of them, so buyers are paying for margins to keep climbing. Third-quarter revenue rose 27.7% to $6.06 billion, with data center sales up about 95%. The company guided fourth-quarter revenue of $5.8 billion to $6.3 billion; analysts expect $6.11 billion. The company is due to report in January 2027.

Chipmaker MaxLinear delivers beat-and-raise report with data center surge. * PATRICK SEITZ * Updated 04:56 PM ET 10/22/2026 Chipmaker MaxLinear (MXL) late Thursday beat expectations for the third quarter and with its guidance for the fourth quarter. But MaxLinear stock slipped in late trades. The Carlsbad, Calif.-based company earned an adjusted 62 cents a share on sales of $218.1 million in the September quarter. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected MaxLinear to earn 56 cents a share on sales of $214.9 million in Q3. On a year-over-year basis, MaxLinear earnings jumped 343% while sales rose 72%. Inflation And The AI Supercycle In this episode, Investor’s Business Daily, LLC break down Jeff's latest newsletter research on the upcoming midterm election cycle and what it actually means for your portfolio. Spoiler: the market doesn't care as much about party changes as you think. It just wants uncertainty out of the way. Investor’s Business Daily, LLC examine why gridlock often fuels stock market gains, which political setups historically deliver the highest returns, and why expectations for this cycle should be balanced against recent market strength. Inflation And The AI Supercycle See All Videos For the fourth quarter, MaxLinear forecast revenue of $240 million to $260 million. The midpoint of $250 million easily topped Wall Street's target of $226.6 million. In Q4 last year, MaxLinear generated sales of $136.4 million. MaxLinear makes radio frequency, analog, digital and mixed-signal integrated circuits for connectivity, infrastructure, industrial and other applications. Revenue from the company's infrastructure business surged 210% in Q3, reflecting accelerated adoption of its optical networking products for AI data centers. "With the convergence of multiple growth drivers fueling our data center-focused business, new product introductions expanding our footprint and content, our relentless focus on innovation, operational excellence, and disciplined execution, we believe MaxLinear is well-positioned to deliver sustained growth, expanding profitability, and long-term value for our shareholders," Chief Executive Kishore Seendripu said in a news release. MaxLinear stock fails to get earnings lift. In after-hours trading on the stock market today, MaxLinear slipped more than 3% to 63.15. During the regular session Thursday, MaxLinear stock plunged 13.9% to close at 65.28 during a bad day for chip stocks. MaxLinear's Q3 report follows results this week from chip industry peers Texas Instruments (TXN) and Vicor (VICR). MaxLinear stock is on the IBD Tech Leaders list, as are TI and Vicor. Texas Instruments launches TI-Rover BT, a calculator-controlled robot that draws maths equations

Texas Instruments (TI) has launched the TI-Rover BT, a Bluetooth-enabled robotic vehicle that turns algebraic equations into motion on the classroom floor. Students control it with the TI-84 Evo graphing calculator. The vehicle plots curves and shapes from built-in templates. Stepper motors and an onboard pen holder let it draw formulas on paper, making ideas such as continuity and discontinuity visible. An RGB LED can change colour when an ultrasonic ranger detects a nearby object. "The TI-Rover BT is more than a tool; it's a way to make abstract mathematical ideas tangible," said Laura Chambers, president of TI Educational Technology. It is on sale at instructional dealers nationwide. TI plans to add support for the TI-Nspire CX II and TI-Nspire CX II CAS calculators in 2027.

Texas Instruments tops expectations, fueled by industrial recovery and AI.

Texas Instruments tops expectations, fueled by industrial recovery and AI. Texas Instruments reported better-than-expected Q3 results and provided a strong outlook for the remainder of the year, supported by a recovery in industrial demand and the expansion of data centers dedicated to artificial intelligence. The US semiconductor manufacturer expects Q4 revenue of between $5.80bn and $6.30bn, compared with the $5.73bn expected by analysts. EPS is expected between $2.45 and $2.79. The forecast points to improving demand for its analog and embedded components, which are used in automobiles, industrial applications and electronic equipment. Published on 10/22/2026 at 04:00 am EDT MarketScreener.com In Q3, Texas Instruments' revenue rose 28% y-o-y to $6.06bn, exceeding the $5.92bn expected by the market. EPS jumped 77% to $2.62, reflecting the group's improved profitability. Unlike manufacturers of advanced processors such as Nvidia, Texas Instruments focuses on analog chips, which are essential for managing electrical power and processing physical signals in electronic systems. Chief Executive Haviv Ilan also highlighted the group's financial strength, with operating cash flow reaching $9.9bn over the past 12 months. This performance is notably based on its diversified portfolio and the industrial advantages of production using 300-millimeter silicon wafers. Considered an important indicator of the health of the global electronics sector, Texas Instruments is thus confirming favorable momentum, fueled by a recovery in traditional markets and growing investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
