Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required, and the candidate must meet state regulating agency and company driving requirements.
- Must successfully pass a federal and state criminal background check.
- Must successfully participate in and complete the SCM exam and training.
- Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of 2–4 hours.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and stretch in a manner conducive to daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
- Must successfully participate in and complete the Handle With Care behavior intervention method exam and training.
Responsibilities
- Initiate engagement with clients and provide safe interactions, mentorship, and supervision of their daily activities and behaviors.
- Monitor and coach clients in activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, household upkeep, and laundry.
- Ensure clients adhere to and engage in program schedules and activities, including school, therapy sessions, group sessions, external appointments, and family visits.
- Plan and participate in developing daily schedules, activities, treatment plans, guidance plans, and safety protocols.
- Advocate for clients’ needs.
- Administer medications and ensure accurate, compliant documentation in the client record as applicable.
- Maintain awareness of individual client phases, privileges, and restrictions, and adjust interactions objectively and empathetically.
- Engage in therapeutic interventions within treatment parameters while maintaining healthy and appropriate boundaries with clients and families.
- Engage in counseling sessions and assist with developing treatment plans as needed.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate educational groups supporting treatment-plan goals and therapeutic programming.
- Plan, participate in, and carry out off-campus client activities while managing the group and supervising clients appropriately.
- Assist with transporting clients for home visits, medical appointments, and planned recreational activities as required.
- Engage with and actively listen to clients and families.
- Report signs and symptoms requiring intervention or referral, including suicidal or violent tendencies, self-mutilation, eating disorders, or chemical dependency.
- Prioritize clients’ emotional and physical safety.
- Perform First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures and respond according to emergency protocols.
- Apply de-escalation techniques and strategies with crisis-management training during emergencies.
- Comply with privacy and confidentiality policies for clients and families.
- Complete client-related documentation accurately and professionally, including incident reports and progress notes.
- Maintain positive team interactions and participate in staff meetings while advocating for clients and their families as applicable.
- Assume responsibility for managing the milieu in the absence of the Milieu Supervisor when requested.
- Complete required training, comply with company policies and procedures, and engage in professional growth and constructive feedback.

Its continuum includes foster care, outpatient and community mental health services, residential treatment, and family stabilization.
