Biometric Ventures, the venture capital arm of biometrics company Innovatrics, has invested in Spanish startup Mettis AI, which develops AI-based driver monitoring systems. The investment amount was not disclosed. Mettis AI combines behavioural analytics with biometric identity verification to analyse driving behaviour in real time, detecting dangerous manoeuvres and risk patterns. Its facial recognition technology ensures driver behaviour data is attributed to the correct individual, particularly useful in logistics where multiple drivers operate the same vehicle. The technology also serves ride-hailing platforms and driving schools. The companies plan to target fleet operators, mobility platforms and carpooling services.
