OR Sterile Supply Technician

Overview

Additionalskills:

1. Demonstratesclearandconciseverbalandwrittencommunicationandcustomerserviceskills. Must have knowledgeofsterilization principles.
2. Must be able to perform several tasks in an organizedmanner.
3. Ability to learn and retain basic knowledge of inventorysystems, surgical equipment, and supplies. 
4. Illustrates computer skills withinthe serviceprovided.
5. Must manage inventory, stocklocations,and pick needed supplies for surgical procedures.

Physical /Workingconditions:

1. Mustbeabletoaccessthe entirefacility,liftto40lbs,transportsupplies,instrumentsand equipment as needed.
2. Demonstratesmanualdexterity,hearingacuity,andverbalability.
3. Displays capability to stand for long periods of time and can walk, lift, bend, and stoop for most of the workday.
4. Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks overextended periodsof time.
5. The environmentinvolves potential exposure to blood/body fluids, hazardousmaterials,and communicable diseases.
6. Participates in creating a safety culture by optimizing safety.

Psychosocial:

1. Mustbeabletodealwithafastpaced,stressfulenvironmentwiththeabilitytohandle frustration and stress in an appropriate manner.
2. Displays effectiveorganizationalskills withthe abilityto prioritize.

Other:

1. Mustbeabletoworkweekends,holidays,andshiftrotationsasneeded.
2. Consideredcritical services during inclement weather and disasters.

Qualifications

Education/formaltraining/licensure/certificationexperience:

1. Completionofhighschooloritsequivalent
2. One year's experience in a supply or hospital environment with medical or surgical supplies preferred. 
3. Completion of medical terminology course preferred.
