Non-profit pediatric health system in Texas
Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit pediatric health system serving South Texas with campuses in Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley, plus a network of specialty clinics. It offers a wide range of pediatric services, including a Level IV NICU, a PICU, pediatric surgery, cardiology, oncology, and a pediatric residency program affiliated with Texas A&M. It funds care through patient services and philanthropic donations, with a pledge to treat every child regardless of their ability to pay. Its distinctiveness comes from its charitable model, regional footprint, history of pioneering pediatric care (including the area’s first pediatric-only emergency department and organ transplant work), and its role in educating future pediatricians, all aimed at expanding access to care for underserved regions.
