AtoB has partnered with Geotab to launch the Geotab Fleet Card, making Geotab the first fleet management platform to embed AtoB's payments platform. The card verifies fuel purchases against vehicle data before approval, preventing unauthorised transactions. The integration brings spend controls across 13 categories, including fuel, maintenance and tolls, directly into Geotab's platform. Fuel purchases are declined if the vehicle isn't at the pump or the tank lacks capacity. Cardholders access AtoB's fuel discount network, saving an average of 42 cents per gallon at over 4,200 diesel truck stops and 5 cents per gallon at 30,000 petrol stations. Eligible accounts receive fraud protection up to $250,000. The card operates natively within Geotab's system, allowing fleet operators to manage transactions, approvals and reporting alongside existing vehicle data. It's now available to eligible US fleets using the Geotab platform.
Openreach partners with Geotab to cut downtime and boost safety across 23,000+ fleet. * 6 October 2026 * 0 * Natalie Middleton Openreach has teamed up with fleet telematics leader Geotab to deploy connected vehicle technology across its fleet of more than 23,000 cars and vans. The partnership aims to significantly boost driver safety and support the company's net-zero ambitions, while slashing downtime. Openreach operates the UK's second largest commercial fleet, and its engineers drive millions of miles every year to build and maintain the country's digital network. Driving is one of the highest risk activities undertaken by Openreach people, making road safety a key priority. Volunteer engineers are already testing the technology in an early adopter phase, helping to validate the user experience and assess how richer vehicle data can build a safer, greener and more efficient fleet. When proved successful, the technology will be deployed across the company's fleet. The data will provide enhanced insights into vehicle performance, helping identify potential maintenance issues before they lead to breakdowns and minimising unplanned downtime. Openreach will also use the data to better understand fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation and opportunities to support its transition to lower-emission vehicles. The driving data is shared directly with drivers via an intuitive app, allowing them to understand their own driving behaviours, self-correct where needed and proactively upgrade their safety skills. The technology has been designed with employee privacy in mind and includes controls that limit data collection outside working hours. Judy O'Keefe, director of fleet management, said: "Its engineers rely on their vehicles every day to keep people and businesses connected. VAN Fleet World has worked with the CWU and Prospect, its recognised trade unions on this trial, which will help VAN Fleet World better understand how its fleet is performing so VAN Fleet World can improve safety, reduce downtime and provide its colleagues with the best possible support. "By giving us earlier visibility of potential vehicle issues and better insight into how our fleet operates, this technology can help create a safer, more efficient and more sustainable fleet for the future." Aaron Jarvis, vice president EMEA at Geotab, commented: "Openreach operates a nationwide fleet in all conditions, delivering the critical connectivity that powers the UK. VAN Fleet World has collaborated closely to ensure its solution was rigorously validated by both leadership and the engineers who depend on driving for their daily roles. "Throughout this journey, Openreach's unwavering commitment to workforce safety and trust has been second to none. This has been evidenced by their deliberate approach to technology selection and the proactive engagement with their drivers which will continue via this trial. Establishing this foundation of trust is just as vital as the insights generated by the data, and we are proud to be a part of their ambitions."
Geotab links Fleet Card to vehicle data. The new card combines fuel discounts with telematics-based purchase controls. Geotab's analysis also points to potential savings from choosing lower-priced fuel stops. October 2, 2026 2 min to read Geotab has launched a fleet payment card that uses vehicle data to help block unauthorized fuel purchases and gives drivers access to fuel discounts and nearby price information. The Geotab Fleet Card, developed with transportation payments company AtoB, is available to eligible U.S. fleets. It connects AtoB's payment platform and fuel discount network with Geotab's telematics system. Using vehicle data to control purchases. The card stays locked until a driver unlocks it through the Geotab Drive app while the vehicle is parked at the merchant location. When a fuel purchase is attempted, the system checks the vehicle's location against the merchant's GPS coordinates and checks the vehicle's fuel level. According to Geotab, it declines the purchase if the vehicle is not at the pump or the tank does not have room for the fuel being purchased. Eligible accounts can receive an AtoB fraud guarantee of up to $250,000 for transactions verified through the card's authorization system. Eligibility requirements, exclusions and claim procedures apply. Ad Loading... Finding lower-priced diesel. The card provides access to discounted fuel pricing at more than 34,000 U.S. fueling locations, according to Geotab. The Geotab Drive app also helps drivers find nearby lower-priced fuel stops. Geotab's analysis of 419,000 diesel fill-ups across 660 U.S. fleets found price differences of as much as 77 cents per gallon within the same town during the same week. For a 75-gallon fill-up, that represents a difference of about $58. Among fleets with fewer than 100 vehicles, Geotab found that drivers chose the lower-priced option about one in six times. The company estimated that choosing a lower-priced station could save roughly $24 per fill-up, or about $4,700 per truck annually, assuming approximately 200 fill-ups a year. Those figures illustrate potential savings from fuel-stop selection; they are not measured savings from using the new card. Managing other on-road expenses. Beyond fuel, the card supports purchases such as maintenance, tolls, parking, truck scales, towing, roadside assistance, and lumper services. Ad Loading... Fleets can set spending rules by dollar amount, time frame, location, or merchant category. Within the Geotab platform, managers can review transactions, approvals and declines; manage cards; and access International Fuel Tax Agreement reporting. AtoB and its issuing bank partners issue and operate the card. Geotab said it has no activation or monthly card fees.
Geotab has launched the Geotab Fleet Card in collaboration with AtoB to help commercial fleets reduce fuel costs and prevent unauthorised spending. The telematics-powered card uses real-time dynamic authorisation, staying locked until drivers unlock it in the Geotab Drive app whilst parked at a fuel station. The system verifies vehicle proximity, merchant GPS coordinates and fuel tank levels before approving transactions. It automatically declines purchases if the vehicle isn't at the pump or the tank lacks capacity. Eligible accounts receive fraud protection up to $250,000. The card provides access to wholesale fuel discounts at over 34,000 US stations. For a 500-vehicle Class 8 fleet with $31.3 million annual fuel spend, unauthorised purchases could represent $2.19 million in avoidable costs. The card is free to activate and supports 11 spending categories beyond fuel, including maintenance and tolls.
